I always tell new puppy parents to allow their puppy to sniff.. it acquaints the puppy with it's new surroundings but also helps the puppy get acquainted with the leash.

You think " Oh my gosh, that puppy is tiny!" BUT, if your puppy is 8 weeks old or older, you can and SHOULD be training him! Simple commands like having the puppy follow food around while you hold it in front of them, tossing food in the crate and making a game of going in and out of it and having the puppy chase a toy that's tossed from one person to the other ( think down a hallway ). These all teach the puppy to pay attention to you, to go in his crate and to learn his name. Start training as soon as you get your puppy! Even better, hire me to do the training!
