Ice Cream for Your Dog
Another way people like to cool off in the summertime is by enjoying some nice, cold ice cream.

The good news is that your dog doesn’t have to miss out on this summertime treat either!

It might sound hard to make ice cream for your dog, but all it takes is some time and a few ingredients. Melt a chicken, beef, or vegetable bouillon cube into 3/4 cup of warm water, blend it together with 16 oz. of plain yogurt, pour them into an ice cube tray, and pop them in the freezer!

Easy, right?

You can alter this recipe for different flavors, too.

Try mixing some peanut butter with the yogurt instead, or adding broken up dogs treats into your mixture to give your doggie ice cream some crunch.

Now you don’t have to feel guilty when your dog stares at your ice cream cone with those cute begging eyes of theirs!

Hot! Hot! Hot! Keep your pets cool with these:
Ice Cubes
This one might sound simple, but regular ice cubes are a great treat to give your dog on a hot day!

Whether you’re taking your pup for a walk, to the park, or to a picnic, ice cubes are a nice way to keep them busy, hydrated, and help them cool down.

Whether they suck on them or bite into them, ice cubes are a quick and easy way to give your dog some relief from the heat.

2. Frozen Watermelon Treats
Watermelon is a classic summertime fruit. It’s light, juicy, and refreshing!

We see it at picnics and at the beach, but did you know that dogs love it too?

Mix watermelon, a cup of coconut milk or water, and some honey in a blender and you’re halfway there to giving your pup a frozen watermelon treat they won’t forget.

Next, pour your blended mixture into an ice tray, and wait for them to freeze before giving one of these tasty treats to your pup or yourself.

That’s the neat thing about these watermelon treats–you and your dog can share them together!

If you want to make them look a little more special, you can always buy a watermelon ice tray to let the treats freeze in too.

Hurricane Season is Here! Make sure you are ready for your pets.

Here are the essential supplies you should keep in your pet safety kit for hurricanes:

Five to seven days’ worth of nonperishable pet food in sealed containers

At least seven days’ worth of water for each pet

Photocopies and/or USB copies of each pet’s medical records (including vaccinations), or copies saved online or in a pet health tracker app in your phone

A waterproof container with a two-week supply of any prescription medications your pet is on—including heartworm medication. Be sure to fill these prescriptions well in advance, or at the first notice of a hurricane approaching.

Recent photos of your pets—either printed or saved on your phone (in case you are separated and need to make “lost pet” posters)

Pet-safe cleaning and potty supplies: disinfectant, garbage bags, potty pads or indoor potty options like artificial grass patches, cat litter, a disposable litter box and paper towels

Pet food dishes and water bowls

A pet first aid kit

Collars or harnesses to attach ID tags with your information, and leashes to keep dogs safely by your side

ID tags with up-to-date contact information. Even if your pets are microchipped, ID tags offer a quick and easy way for pets to be identified during an emergency situation and reunited with you if you become separated.

A travel crate (you will want one for each pet)

Comfort items for your pet, including blankets, beds, treats and toys

Pet calming aids like supplements or anxiety vests that can help to reduce anxiety during an emergency situation

Pet emergency sticker placed outside each door that tells rescue teams that animals may be trapped inside, and how many to look for (do not abandon your pets; these stickers can help if you stay at home and there is an emergency rescue situation)

Find out which shelters in your area Take pets!

For Horses, Cattle and pigs, use a grease stick and put your phone # on them if they get out.
