We'll I had my first calf of the year last night! My white Charolais Angus cross, "Diamond", had a calf sired by "Smoking Bob" (also white) last night ( a week late). Their calf came out as a 65 lb. black heifer!

It is okay when someone takes care of a dead calf, but when you think either your dad, or grandpa takes care of it, and they think you took care of it it isn't to good... Coyotes can't take a whole calf themselves. Also, it turns out that the neibors caught what looks to be a 125 lb cat on their trail cam... not a good sign.

The past two days have brought two calves each, and Sat. there was a disterbance in the heard so I set out a few snares where there was fresh coyote tracks, and I hope we have no more issues.

would Have to say yesterday was quite a day! 10% of our calves were born in less than 24 hours!!! Ive been a little behind, but that brings us up to 12 calves that have survived, and two that we have lost. One that was lost was a twin, but the other survived, and the other one we lost must not have gotten warm enough on the night it was born.

An other pair of calves calved an other embryo 57 lb. heifer, and a 63 lb. sim-angus bull calf from our herd bull "Steel". So far I haven't been chased, now lets keep it that way!

Well we have had our first calves of the season! A 68 lb. P.B. Angus heifer by "Payday", and a 62 lb. Simmental Bull from our embryo transplants. Let the Calving Season begin!
