Ed is hosting the club August local dive - the 2nd annual Jetty Dive, Picnic, Crab Boil and Potluck at the North Jetty on Saturday August 2.

It's a family event. Bring something to share and the club will provide salads and desserts. Bring a crab cooker if you have one and we'll cook what we catch. And folding tables and chairs to set up on the shore to the west!

Meet at 9a for a 1030p splash. It's a small ebb so it'd be easy to do a second dive if you'd like to.

If you're interested in joining in drop Ed a note at [email protected] so we can get a good head count.

Should be a fun day!

Join us next Tuesday July 1 at Dickie Jo's by VRC for our monthly meeting. We have the room from 6-8p and the meeting starts about 630p. Come early for food, drink and conversation.

Club member Kris Stenshoel has been a key player in the Trailbridge Reservoir project to improve fish habitat. He and his colleagues will bring us up to date on the progress and when we might be able to dive there again.

We'll also preview the upcoming Blue River dive Ed is hosting on July 14, and Rick has some great tips too!

Hope to see you there!

Our July local dive will be at Blue River Reservoir on Saturday July 12 about an hour up the McKenzie from Eugene. Ed is coordinating this one. Ed hosted this last year, and it was a lot of fun. It's a pretty easy in and out with some depth if you want that. And a nice wall since it's a drowned river.

We'll plan on meeting at 10am at the parking lot by the dam to get organized. Turn left off 126 on Blue River Drive to Blue River Rd to Lucky Boy Rd. It's not too far off the highway. Here are some directions Ed worked up.

Dive Blue River Viewpoint -126 to 1st Blue river exit. Blue River Drive to Blue River
Reservoir road. Go left before town and before bridge take left on River Street (125). After 1 to 1/12 miles it forks - stay left to parking area 2 miles

If you're interested in joining us, let us know at [email protected] and [email protected] so we can figure out lunch!

Hope to see you there.

Join us next Tuesday May 6 at Dickie Jo's by VRC for our monthly meeting. We have the room from 6-8p and the meeting starts about 630p. Come early for food, drink and good conversation!

Ed is hosting a video by renowned cinematographer Jonathon Bird about sharks at Flagpole, along with some cool wolf eel and octo videos from his recent trips. There is some great footage.

And Rick's tips are back!

Hope to see you there!

Join us Saturday April 19 for our monthly local dive. We'll be diving at the Woahink training site by the first bridge. The shop tells me they don't have anything scheduled Saturday. The weather should be pretty nice.

Plan on meeting at 10am. No need to have a buddy. We'll figure that out.

We'll provide lunch. If you want to bring some cookies for dessert that'd be great.

If you're interested in coming along, please drop me a note at [email protected] so we have a headcount for lunch, and I can give you dive details. I need to know folks are coming or the dive may be rescheduled.

Hope to see you then.

Jim

Join us next Tuesday February 4 at Dickie Jo's by VRC for our monthly meeting. We have the room from 6-8p and the meeting starts at 630p. Come early for food, drink and conversation!

Carolyn Caporusso from Clean Coast Bonaire will join us on Zoom to tell us about her work focused on cleaning microplastics from the coast. Rick met her last time he was down there and was impressed with her effort and dedication. It's an issue that affects all of us and should be an interesting discussion.

Andrew will also talk about tides and how to determine a good dive time. What website do you use? How close is the station to the dive site? What's the flood and ebb rate? All good things to have figured out before you get in the water!

And we have some cool raffle prizes too!

We are having our annual Holiday Party on Tuesday December 10 at Putter's on Hwy99! We provide the pizza, soda, and two raffles with really fancy prizes.

The party starts at 6p with pizzas hitting the table shortly after. Then you have a chance to play lazer tag, golf, pool, or just hang and chat with your dive buddies. The raffles will happen about 730 or so and we'll wrap up about 8p.

You don't want to miss it!

Hope to see you there!

Bruce is putting together a trip up to Port McNeill at the northern end of Vancouver Island near Port Hardy. This is the southern end of the Browning Passage and the Broughton Archipelago and bucket list diving at its best.

The trip is with Sun Fun Charters out of Pt. McNeill, BC. from October 2-6. This is a new dive charter for the club and comes highly recommended. We are looking at 5 days of 2 tank boat dives. The boat has been reserved and can take up to 8 divers and with a full boat would cost $220CAD (~$165US) per day. Hotel and food are on your own, but there is a bunkhouse available for $25CAD/night. Just bring a sleeping bag and pillow.

There is also a chance for 2 days of diving out of Campbell River on the way up. All of this is true cold water diving - like 42ish. But it is an awesome place!

Check out Sun Fun Charter's page.
