Spent some time with the three spring soft releases tonight and Penny (short for pennies from heaven) gave me the best gift ever!

Today Ringtails Unleashed welcomed a new resident.
Everyone meet Millie!!
Millie is a special case that had no where to go. When Millie come in to her rescuer she realized Millie wasn’t growing. At 8 weeks Millie only weighs a touch over 300 grams. (The foster babies were weighing in at 350 last week at almost 4 weeks). We believe Millie has the same issue as our little Petey from last year. If that’s the case, Millie will not be eligible for a hard release. I was luck with Petey, she’s very instinctual and will hunt bugs, roots and small prey like a wild raccoon but due to her small size she wouldn’t survive in the wild, hence Petey joined our soft release family. That is the best I can hope for our Millie unless she suddenly starts growing and catches up which I highly doubt.

How many babies get such a pipeline of support and help live the life they are meant to!
Wild and free is exactly where all our wild life belong (with the exception ONLY of the special needs).

Yesterday we said goodbye to the Rocking R Raccoon Rescue fosters. It’s so hard to send them off on their next step in a future wild life. No matter how good of hands they are going to. ❤️
Even though they were only here for a short time until transport could be arranged, each one leaves an imprint on your soul …

Thank you, thank you beautiful neighbor for the donation you dropped off last night! Our amazing raccoon family helped themselves to the entire bag of cherries and took multiple chunks of almost every apple that was in the two bags 😂😂😂
And yes, I know it was raccoons, they left their adorable foot prints 😍

After raising these kids (Cutie pie, Little bit and Silvy) ALL winter, momma Oscar figured she’d finally step in and be a mom to Silvy! 🤭
