EPD is seeking assistance in identifying the owners of a dog who bit a child at Indian Brook Park on Sept., 2nd at about 5:45PM. The victim and her mother were running at Indian Brook Park when they were approached by a golden doodle and a black and tan hound mix, approximately 70-75 lbs. The hound mix bit the victim when she was walking away. Two women who are thought to be the owners spoke to the mother and said they would be in contact with the mother to provide vaccination information. They have yet to contact her. Anyone who can identify the owners of this dog might be, please contact the Essex Animal Control Officer at 802-876-6790 at ext. 1113, or email: [email protected]

PLEASE SHARE - MISSING DOG - ESSEX, VT

Darby escaped her fenced in yard earlier today, Saturday, March 19, at 22 Upland Road, Essex, VT (next to the high school) and has not been seen since approximately 12:00 noon. She is extremely shy and will not let strange people approach her so we are asking people to please don't chase and just let us know if you see her. We need to establish a location and then it will most likely take a dog trap to retrieve her safely. Darby is a mostly tan with white chest Carolina Dog mix, 30 lbs, 2 yrs old, wearing a bright orange collar with rabies tag. She could possibly be traveling from Essex to find her way back to her foster home in Ascutney, VT.

Contacts: Lorei 802-238-5972, Sally 802-356-1866, e-mail [email protected], if you see her.

Hello Everyone!

Its been a long cold winter, and I havn't been around much to keep the dog park information flowing. I'm working on finding a meeting time in early March to begin monthly committee meetings again and will post here, on FPF, our website and email list when that is set.

A Couple of people on FPF had noted that trash at the dog park seems like it is being emptied less often. This is probably true with the cold weather the volunteer crew that powers the dog park is probably visiting less often. The other problem is that the last time I was there, there was a partial filled trash bag in the bottom of the container that is FROZEN in, basically cutting the trash capacity in half, so it is filling up really fast. Please be courteous and find an appropriate place to put your dog waste (I believe the can inside the smaller pen is working at 100%). and PLEASE I urge you not to put other waste in the trash. Dog Park rules ban food inside the park so there really is no reason for anythign other than dog waste and broken tennis balls/toys to find their way in there.

We also are always recruiting for new committee members so if you want to help out at the park click the new "Sign up" link in the banner above or goto http://www.essexdogpark.org/volunteer
