Cat Care Champion. Feline Advocate. Quiet Force of Good. If compassion had a job description, it would look a lot like Jazmin Monares.
Jaz works in a way that doesn’t demand attention—but earns it. In her calm, steady presence, the smallest and most vulnerable among us are seen, protected, and deeply cared for. One teammate put it perfectly:
“Hard to find someone with a bigger heart. In her quiet way, she takes care of the weakest and tiniest. I once saw her giving the option to a kitten—she was holding a vaccine in one hand and dewormer in the other asking, ‘Which one do you want first?’”
That gentleness extends far beyond the cat rooms. Jaz is an unwavering ambassador for every feline resident in our care, ensuring not just quality care, but dignity and compassion in every interaction—with cats, colleagues, volunteers, and the public alike.

She is also so kind with her colleagues and the public. She helps out whenever asked, and she shows up with a smile, even on the hard days.”
Her knowledge of our cats is extraordinary, matched only by her creativity in helping them shine. From thoughtful promotions to heartfelt storytelling, Jaz has played a huge role in helping countless cats find their people—while also being a constant source of support for staff and volunteers.

**Jaz is pictured here with Shadow. If you had seen the video of his arrival and first few days in the shelter, you would have thought no human could ever touch this cat. EVER. But with Jaz’s quiet patience and brave heart, he not only learned to accept pets, but to enjoy love. Shortly after I took this photo…he was adopted 🥹
