Being a Breeder
🐾 Do you know how much rejection it costs to be a breeder?
Being a breeder isn’t just about posting photos of cute kittens and boasting about beautiful cats.
There is also a whole sea of rejections that are invisible to some from the outside.
🕰️ Time? There is no such thing as “free”
You forget about weekends, trips, vacations. At least for a few hours.
You can’t go to the cinema when there is new life in the maternity box.
You can’t sleep peacefully at night when a cat has a due date.
You can’t leave when a kitten is fighting for its life.
There is no “break” in breeding. Every minute counts.
💸 Money? Endless investments
💰 Good cats are expensive – and very expensive.
💰 Tests, retests, shows, traveling, food, supplements, cesarean section, medications, vaccinations, equipment – that costs thousands 💸
💰 Birth? Sometimes it just goes away. There is nothing there. Sometimes you tried and… you wake up to an empty maternity box.
💔 Feelings? You learn patience and pain
➡️ When a kitten dies in your arms and you are helpless.
➡️ When a cat doesn’t give birth despite your efforts.
➡️ When you have to say no to a person who “just wants a cat,” because you see it won’t be a good home.
➡️ When you sacrifice everything – and in return you get hatred, jealousy, and resentment.
👩⚕️ No routine – you are a breeder, but also:

🍼 surrogate mom
📖 genetics student
📦 logistics
📷 photographer
laundry helper
🧠 psychologist
💬 advisor for your clients, often for many years
👨👩👧👦 Family and friends?? Things can be hard
“We can’t meet, the cat is giving birth.” """
“I’m not going, because the kittens have
diarrhea and I have to take care of them.” """
“No, I don’t want to leave them with anyone.” “It’s my responsibility.”
Not everyone will understand. Not everyone will stay.
❤️ But despite all of that… it’s love
Love for animals, for their lives, for the development of the breed.
Love that makes you get up 10× a night.
Love that won’t let you take time off.
Love thanks to which kittens grow up healthy and makes you happy, even when you are sick or tired.
🐶 A breeder is not a “kitten factory.”
This is someone who gives up their OWN comfort for the benefit of animals.
This is someone who does not measure love with money.
This is someone who lives between pleasure and pain, and still wouldn’t want it any other way.
❤️ Respect RESPONSIBLE breeders. Every day they give everything they have, even when no one is watching. ❤️
