​Special Adoption Fee: Just $35 for the weekend (with an approved application)!

Happy $5 Friday, Unicoi County! 🐾

​It has been a heavy couple of weeks for emergency medical needs at the shelter, and our veterinary bills are stacking up quickly. We do everything in our power to give every animal their second chance, but right now, we completely rely on your support to make these life-saving surgeries happen.

​Today, we are dedicating our $5 Friday to our emergency medical fund. If you have $5 to spare, it directly changes a life right here in our community. Here is where your donations are going today:

🩷🩷​Coco Update: Thanks to your incredible generosity, we raised a decent portion of Coco's bills for her severe neck injury. However, we still have a remaining balance to clear for her specialized care.
🩷🩷​Our Brave Mama Dog: Just yesterday, a sweet mama dog came to us needing immediate, life-saving emergency surgery. She is stable, but the unexpected surgical costs have hit our medical fund hard.

🚨 CRITICAL UPDATE: Please Read & Share 🚨

​We have an urgent and incredibly emotional update regarding our sweet girl from earlier today. We desperately need our community to rally around her right now.

​After being evaluated by our veterinarian today, she had to be rushed into emergency, life-saving surgery. An X-ray revealed a heartbreaking truth: she still had one unborn puppy trapped inside of her.

​If she had still been out on the streets, she would not have survived this.

​While performing the emergency surgery, the veterinary team was also able to successfully spay her. In a secondary discovery that broke all of our hearts, the X-ray also showed a BB gun pellet lodged in her body from being shot at some point in her past. It is infuriating to think about what she has endured, but it only fuels our determination to give her the life she truly deserves.

​💔 Finding Peace in the Pain
​Losing her puppies is an absolute tragedy, and we are mourning that loss with her. But as we look at her tonight, we are finding peace in knowing that she was saved. If she hadn't been brought to us when she was, she wouldn't be here tonight.

Because of this unexpected emergency surgery, our vetting costs have escalated significantly. We absolutely must raise these funds to cover her lifesaving care. She has fought so hard to be here—now, it's our turn to fight for her.

🚨 IMPORTANT PSA & URGENT PLEA 🚨
​This is the reality of why we preach spaying and neutering until we are blue in the face. It isn't just about controlling the population—it is about saving lives and preventing unimaginable suffering.
​Last night, we assisted a pregnant dog through an extremely prolonged and difficult labor. Tragically, she lost all 8 of her puppies, all of whom were born severely deformed. It has been a devastating, heartbreaking situation for our staff and, most of all, for this poor mother.
​Right now, we believe she may not be done delivering, and her life is on the line. We are rushing her to the vet at this very moment to determine the next immediate medical steps to save her.
​We desperately need your help.
​We are stepping up to give her every single fighting chance, but her emergency medical expenses are mounting quickly. If you can spare even a few dollars to help us cover her emergency vet care please consider donating.
