Meet our Littlest Hilton - Chicka the Chihuahua!
Here at Therapy Dogs United we are always looking for inspiring 'tails' that illuminate the incredible bond between dogs and humans... and we found a story for the books - Paris Hilton's book to be exact.
"Paris the Memoir" serves as both a profoundly shocking and awe-inspiring narrative that underscores the adage 'you never know what happens behind closed doors.' In her memoir she bravely invites us into her world and illuminates the unseen struggles of many.
Paris as a pop culture icon has not only transformed the realms of fashion, television entertainment and social media - she has taken on the role of a powerful advocate for ending institutional child abuse in the 'troubled teen' community.
In her memoir, Paris bravely recounts her journey of survival within the 'troubled teen industry' by sharing her experiences as a teenager residing in a residential treatment facility. Her story serves as a powerful reminder to us all that even in the darkest of times, transformation healing is possible - especially when dogs are involved!
Throughout her journey of healing - Paris reflects on the comfort and safety that her Chihuahuas provided her with. In chapter 13 of her memoir Paris shares that "they weren't trained as such - but [my chihuahua's] were therapy dogs in the truest sense. [From the trauma of her past] I was left with an abiding fear of human therapists, and I thought I'd die if any of my friends or cousins knew what had really happened to me.
[My dogs] didn't question my choices, or prod me to talk about my feelings, they didn't try to unpack or understand me. They were just there. [...] Dog love has always been my sanctuary."
Her words resonate with the mission of Therapy Dogs United, emphasizing that the presence of therapy dogs can profoundly enhance our lives. These remarkable animals possess an innate ability to connect with individuals during their most challenging moments, offering a non-judgmental ear and a sense of security that is truly invaluable.
Now that's hot.
