These three kittens have already been through more than any little animal should have to endure. Now we have the chance to get them healthy, comfortable, and on their way to the lives they deserve. ❤️

Between these three, four eyes need to be surgically removed. Each eye removal is $80. Since they will already be under anesthesia, we also want to have each kitten spayed/neutered at the same time for an additional $80.

RESCUE DOESN’T HAPPEN ALONE. 🐾❤️

OkanDogs is not alone, and we are certainly not the only ones working every day to save dogs.

One of the things we are most grateful for is the amazing collection of partner rescues and organizations we get to work alongside. These groups have the same drive, passion, and commitment to saving dogs that we do.

That’s why partnerships matter.

💔 In the midst of fighting parvo, we were also quietly taking on ANOTHER case….

These beautiful hounds were found roaming together and in rough condition. We were able to get all to safety, and once we got a closer look, it became clear just how badly they needed help.

One of the girls was found with material wrapped and tangled tightly around her body. But Mabel was by far our biggest concern. She is extremely underweight and has severe muscle loss in one of her back legs. She has little to no function or sensation in that leg, and when her paw flips underneath her, she doesn’t correct it and instead drags it along the ground.

Despite all of that, Mabel can still walk and she is one of the sweetest dogs you could ever meet.

We had her evaluated immediately, and unfortunately, her damaged leg will need to be amputated. Before we can safely put her through an amputation and spay, though, we need to get some much-needed weight and strength back on her.

For now, Mabel is on a carefully managed diet and is slowly gaining weight. Once she is strong enough, we will get her amputation and spay scheduled so she can finally begin the next chapter of her life without dragging a leg that no longer serves her.

The other two hounds are doing well, but both also need to be alteration as soon as possible. All three are females who were found roaming, so getting everyone vetted and altered is a priority.

The incredible part? After everything these girls have been through, they are SO sweet. They are affectionate, grateful, and seem genuinely happy to know they are finally safe.

We know it has been an extremely busy couple of weeks, and we know we’ve had to ask for donations more than we would ever like to. Between parvo cases, emergency medical care, and now these three girls, the expenses just keep coming. But that’s rescue…. the need doesn’t stop just because the bank account needs a break 😭

🐾 PARVO PUP UPDATE 🐾

We wanted to share an update on our pups who have been fighting their way through parvo. ❤️‍🩹

Bruce, who most recently tested positive, has now spent the last three days fighting hard and continuing to improve. Both Bruce and Wheeler appear to have incredibly strong wills, and we are so thankful to see them making their way through this awful virus.

We cannot thank everyone enough who donated toward their care. Your support has allowed us to continue providing the supportive care these babies need while they fight. We’ll keep caring for them until they are fully out of the woods, have completed their quarantine period, and are no longer shedding the virus. Then we can finally focus on getting them to their next destination and the lives they deserve. ❤️

As for the other three pups, we are incredibly grateful to report that they continue to show ZERO symptoms! 🙌 They are due for their second vaccine in just a few days, which feels like a huge milestone after everything this group has been through.

When we took these pups in, we had no idea what the days ahead would bring. Parvo is cruel, unpredictable, and expensive—but these pups have shown us just how tough they are.

Thank you to every person who donated, shared their story, checked in on them, and kept them in your thoughts. Because of you, we’ve been able to keep fighting right alongside them. 🐾❤️

💔CRITICAL NEED💔 Please Share!
Unfortunately, what we feared has come true. 💔 Bruce has also tested positive for parvo.

Bruce didn’t want to eat much of his breakfast this morning, which is very unlike him, so we immediately tested him. His test was positive. He is still drinking some water, and we’ve already started anti-nausea medication and sub-Q fluids to support him.

We would desperately like to get Bruce the same monoclonal antibody treatment that we were able to get Wheeler. Because of Bruce’s size, he would need approximately three vials (268-350$ a vial) depending on where we can get him in. Which means another significant veterinary bill. As a small rescue, we simply cannot continue absorbing bills like this—especially knowing the other two remaining puppies could still become sick.

If anyone would be willing to sponsor Bruce, contribute toward his monoclonal treatment, or help cover his supportive care, we would be incredibly grateful. We will also need to replenish medications like Cerenia, which add up quickly when caring for multiple parvo patients.

This is the reality of rescue. You go out trying to save lives and clean up the consequences of someone else’s horrific choices, never knowing what you’re going to face. What we ended up with are some incredible dogs with amazing personalities who are now fighting for their lives.

It’s been a BUSY day! 🐾❤️

First up was a transport to North Bend to meet Wet Noses Foster Paws ! Okandogs was able to secure a spot for some pups that were being sold in the Ross parking lot here in ML. We got them vaccinated, and our wonderful foster helped get them safely on their way to their next destination! 🐶

Then came another call about another batch of puppies needing emergency placement. Of course, our fosters and volunteers jumped into action and got them settled somewhere safe while Okandogs coordinates their transfer to The NOAH Center 🙌

And last but definitely not least… the “last” dog we’ve been seeing out on Wheeler and Road O has officially been TRAPPED! 🎉 Sheri and Keith rushed out and got her safely out of the heat.

We will continue keeping our eyes out for the remaining 5 dogs that haven’t been seen in nearly a week. But as of tonight, every dog we have been able to locate is officially CAPTURED AND SAFE! ❤️🐾

‼️PARVO‼️Update on the 12 dumped dogs/puppies on Wheeler‼️

The five puppies currently under the care of Life Advocates for Pets remain safe with us. Of the puppies still roaming, we have only seen two (one trapped last night) for nearly a week. The others remain unaccounted for, and we continue to hope they are found safe.

❗️Sweet Wheeler is one of the puppies we were able to rescue. He has since tested positive for parvo, a devastating virus that can be deadly, especially in young puppies.❗️

Thankfully, Sage Hills was able to work him in where he received a monoclonal antibody treatment, fluids, anti-nausea medication, and supportive care. Our incredible rescue partner, Mikey's Chance Canine Rescue, has stepped up to take Wheeler through his recovery, and once he’s healthy, he’ll come back to us to find his forever home.

The remaining four puppies are still in our care. They are now on day six since receiving their vaccines, and thankfully, none of them are showing any symptoms. We continue to pray it stays that way. While this gives us hope, we are not yet out of the window in which they could still become ill following a previous exposure.

❗️Wheeler’s emergency visit totaled $1,200. Replenishing these funds will not only help cover Wheeler’s lifesaving treatment, but will also help us be prepared if any of the remaining puppies become ill, as well as allow us to continue providing medical care for the many other animals who come into our rescue.❗️

Please keep Wheeler, the other puppies, and the ones still missing in your thoughts. ❤️ Wheeler is fighting and showing signs of improvement!
