Happy weekend adoptionsšŸ–¤

Mr. Peter Quill from our Guardians of the Galaxy litter officially went home with his new family this morning, and yesterday sweet tuxedo kitty Felix found his forever home too!

We are so excited for these two and so grateful to everyone who helps make these happy endings possible. Congratulations to their wonderful families! 🐾

Back in February, we were contacted by one of our fellow animal lover after she found a dog roaming loose. Thankfully, she was able to keep him safe. He had a collar with a phone number attached, but unfortunately no one was answering.

Once he was posted publicly, several people began attempting to claim him as theirs. As we continued looking into the situation, we learned that his owner had recently passed away. Sweet boy had been left at the home temporarily while a family member arranged transportation to retrieve him. During that time, someone removed him from the property without permission, and he later escaped from them.

When those individuals discovered we had him, they demanded we turn him over. However, they were unable to provide definitive proof of ownership. We will never simply hand over someone’s beloved pet without proper proof.

The situation quickly escalated, and law enforcement became involved. While authorities initially suggested handing him over, they also acknowledged that we needed to follow our own policies and procedures. So that’s exactly what we did — we continued investigating.

We contacted the coroner’s office and were eventually connected with next of kin. To our surprise, she immediately told us she absolutely did not want this dog going to the people attempting to claim him. In fact, she did not even know them. Her biggest concern mirrored ours: that he was going to be used for breeding. As you can tell, he is a stunning dog, and unfortunately that can attract the wrong intentions.

She was incredibly grateful that we took the time to do our due diligence instead of simply handing him over. Although she was unable to take in her father’s dog herself, she asked us to officially intake him into LAFP, fully vet him, and find him the right home.

We later discovered he is a purebred, papered Golden Retriever, and almost immediately we had the perfect foster-to-adopt home step forward. They absolutely adore him, and he is now living the life he deserves…safe, loved, and cherished as part of their family.

Stories like this are exactly why our policies matter. Even when situations become difficult or emotional, we will always advocate for what is best for the animals in our care. This boy’s story could have ended very differently, but because everyone involved chose to slow down and do the right thing, he now has the future he deserved all along.

Back in November, we assisted GCAO with a severe hoarding case involving many, many animals. From that case, we were able to take in two tiny neonate puppies who needed around-the-clock care.

Our incredible foster poured so much love, time, and dedication into raising those babies, and somewhere along the way, one of them completely stole their heart. šŸ’™

Sweet Koda became a very unexpected foster fail, but we truly could not be happier about it. He is going to have the absolute best home and the most loving family imaginable. Watching these babies go from such heartbreaking beginnings to safe, adored, forever homes is what rescue is all about. Thank you David and Melinda for your amazing efforts and continued support.

Sweet mama Layla from Mattawa, whom we took in heavily pregnant and who delivered her beautiful babies within 24 hours of arriving, has officially found her forever home.

Layla was understandably a little shy and unsure when she first came to us, but with time, patience, and love, she completely opened up and showed us what a sweet, gentle girl she truly is. Watching her go from scared and uncertain to confident, loving, and finally adopted has been such a rewarding journey.

Layla has now been fully vetted and was officially adopted over the weekend. Just another successful mama and puppies story. Exactly why we do what we do.

Thank you to everyone who helped support this little family along the way, from fosters to adopters to everyone cheering them on.
Thank you to Amanda for advocating for this girl and many other animals in the Mattawa area. Happy life, sweet Layla. 🐾

To our valued clients,

We wanted to share an update regarding Dr. Morrison’s recent absence from the clinic.

Over the past several months, Dr. Morrison has been away from work to focus on her mental health and well-being. As many people may not realize, veterinary medicine can be both physically and emotionally demanding leading to compassion fatigue. Veterinarians regularly care for sick and injured animals, support families through difficult decisions, and often carry the emotional weight of those experiences long after the workday ends.

Mental health challenges and compassion fatigue are far more common than many people realize, especially in healthcare professions. Seeking help is a sign of self-awareness and responsibility, not weakness. There is nothing to be ashamed of in acknowledging when support is needed and taking the necessary steps toward recovery.

We are grateful that Dr. Morrison has prioritized her health and is making progress. We also appreciate the understanding, patience, and kindness our clients have shown during this time. Your support means a great deal not only to Dr. Morrison but to our entire team.

Our clinic remains committed to providing excellent care for your pets, and Dr. Mosier, numerous relief vets and our staff have worked together to ensure services continue smoothly while Dr. Morrison focuses on recovery. We look forward to welcoming her back when she is ready.

From the entire MMVS Team. Thank you for your continued trust, compassion, and support. ā¤ļø

Enormous shout out to Pawsitive Alliance yet again for their incredibly generous donation! We were gifted 864 cans of wet dog food, and we cannot wait to put this to good use helping the pets in our care.

A huge thank you as well to ARFS - Animal Rescue Friends Society of Grant Co., Waļæ¼ for helping distribute and transport this amazing donation. The support from our rescue partners and community means the world to us, and because of generosity like this, we’re able to continue advocating for pets in need throughout Grant County.

Sweet Drax and Groot went to their forever homes. ā¤ļø

These sweet boys are two of six puppies born to a mama who was dumped with her partner in the middle of nowhere while heavily pregnant. After being rescued by our amazing fosters, she gave birth just a couple of days later — finally safe and cared for.

We are so grateful to help stop this cycle and give these puppies the future they deserve, one far different from what their parents had previously experienced.

Thank you to these adopters for following their stories and giving them such wonderful homes. And a huge thank you to our amazing foster, Jordyn, who always does such an incredible job caring for these mamas and babies. šŸ–¤
