Water changes should always be the first line of defense.

This blue diamond jumped onto a concrete floor, flopped around and wedged herself between a 90 gallon tank and a wall. It took a solid minute or two to dig her out. (Which didn't feel good for anybody. Discus fins are sharp!)

She looked like death right after it happened. We gave her clean water, a little salt, and StressGuard, but didn't expect her to survive.

The top photo is what she looked like the next day - banged up, but better.

The bottom photo is what she looked like after less than a week of daily water changes.
