Little update on Keena 💕
Starting to see some big changes in her confidence all around! Today was out first time trotting under saddle, so I stayed out of her way especially since the arena was frozen and uneven, but she handled it well! Our focus today was staying consistent and getting a solid halt in both gaits and she passed the test with flying colors. This girl is so smart! 🐴👏

Meet Keena 🐴❤

She is in training to gain some confidence and work on conditioning. Keena came to me as a spooky mare who kept her attention on anything but her handler. Her owner told me she bolts when mounted, dances around for grooming and saddling, and pulls back when she is hard tied or cross tied. So, today I decided to try to get some videos of a little of our progress over the past 3 days (I'll work on the quality 😅).

When I tell you this girl is smart, I mean it! She picks up on everything super quickly and is so eager to please. Already, she is much more attentive, starting to stand like a perfect little lady, and starting to look less like a giraffe for ground work lol We've been working on some ground work basics, giving to pressure, ground tying, and mounting ba****ck. As you can see, she is progressing wonderfully and is sweet as can be ❤ Love having this girl at the barn and am so excited for what she will accomplish by the time she heads home 🤠

‼️We have some exciting news to share here at JL Horsemanship & Training that we've been waiting to share‼️ 🤩

We now have openings for both LESSONS and TRAINING! We have about 6 lesson openings with use of our horses (more for haul-ins), and 3 training spots available as well 🤠

All lessons will be taught by Julia Lawrence, a CHA certified riding instructor, who focuses on English and Western Dressage. There is no age limit to our lessons, so adults and riders of all levels of experience are encouraged to reach out to us to get started!

Have a problem horse, green horse, or a horse that just needs a tune up? We'd love to hear from you and see if our program is the right fit for you!

Yesterday we had a big breakthrough and it's a big deal for this guy! 🙌😁 After struggling with some training inconsistency with lameness issues and life getting in the way while wedding planning, I finally got to ride Luke again for the first time in about a month. Not only did we have our best ride yet, but he FINALLY settled in and accepted bit contact without any fuss ❤ Due to previous mishandling by other people, this was a huge obstacle for him (he was absolutely terrified and extremely reactive to any pressure especially to his head and face when I first got him) and it was always an argument for the entire ride, but yesterday he figured it out and rode beautifully! I'm so proud of this big guy and impressed by how far he has come both mentally and physically. Let's keep proving them wrong 🤠

Hello everyone! 👋

Sorry for the long silence 🦗 It's been a while, so I figured I'd post an update on how things have been going at JB Horsemanship & Training!

First of all I'd like to welcome all of the new followers to the page! Thank you all so much for your support as JB Horsemanship & Training continues to grow, change, and evolve 🤠 Drop a comment below and tell us how you found us and let us know a little bit about you!

After an accident that caused one of our horses to be hospitalized for a couple months, many months of time consuming rehab, and a few lameness issues faced with another along the way, everyone is healthy and back in action! 🙌

Recently, I have partnered with Equi-Partners Inc. as a lesson instructor and it has been a blast! My current lesson schedule is full and I am only teaching on Saturdays due to working a full time office job, but I am working on plans to expand my hours in the future.

My current barn location has changed as well, but the horses have settled in nicely and are loving life at the new barn ❤
