I’ve cared for Bella a 13 year old Maltese for years. And Wiley an Australian Shepherd, Wiley short for Wiley Coyote as he kind of looks like a coyote. He has endless energy. I’m caring for them today for a few hours. Bella has heart failure and just crushing for her owners and me. They have to keep her quiet, chill, not too much excitement or walks as she’ll start coughing and go into distress. They’re both sweet as can be.

I’m caring for this cat named Freeman. After taking care of the chores, clean litter box, changing water, feeding him, cleaning up a bit, I sat on the couch. Freeman came over and laid on me for 45-minutes. If I didn’t have to care for other pets, I would have stayed all day. I think Freeman would continued to lay on me and not move. ❤️

I never want to put my sitters at risk with an aggressive pet. So I always take them. Sometimes it’s stressful but also very rewarding. Well, I’m in one now. The pet owner has a 17 year old cat named Abba. A 4 year old mixed breed named Baron who she thinks was abused before she adopted him. And a 12 year old German Shepherd named Usagi. Usagi was trained to be a police and guard dog. If you lift a stick in the air, or most objects he will come after you. You are not supposed to look him in the eyes which you really shouldn’t do with most dogs as it can be threatening. And you definitely do not try and pet him. He has come up and sniffed me, licked my hand once, and slept in the room I was in. So one could be lulled into a false sense of security. I know better as you will get bit. Nevertheless I love him and all animals. I’m happy I could help the owner out, as it’s not easy for her to find someone who can do this.

I got a call from a last night at 5pm telling me her 83 year old friend who lives in a retirement community just went to the emergency room. The woman has a 13 year old Coton de Tulear named Bella. She had no one to go help with her dog. Her husband recently died, and she didn’t have family here. I don’t know when she went to the hospital but this poor dog was in her apartment alone, hadn’t been able to go outside to do her business and hadn’t eaten. 🥲 unfortunately I was on my way to start a pet sitting job. I called one of my sitters, told him the situation and could he go over there take care of Bella and spend the night. He said yes immediately and headed over. Thankfully the owner was released from the hospital.

Two things came to mind. First what a good man my sitter was. Secondly, I think you should always be prepared to have someone ready to care for your pets in case of emergencies. I’m so thrilled it all worked out.

How about this gorgeous beast! This is Banyan a Japanese Akita. I’ve been walking him the last two days. He’s HUGE! Walks well on leash, unless he sees another dog. He’s very reactive. The owners have been doing a good job training him and getting him distracted with commands and treats when he sees another dog on the walk.

My clients travel a ton and been caring for their pets for years and often throughout the year. Sapphire (white cat) Samoa (multi-colored cat) Gryffon the confident Bengal cat usually under the Christmas tree. It’s Gryffon’s world we just share space in it. And Shelton a Shepherd/Chow mix. Sapphire and Samoa are very timid cats. They have to be in separate areas from Shelton. Shelton would chase them, not with good attentions. Gryffon on the other hand a very confident cat is good buddies with Shelton, because he didn’t run from Shelton.

Shelton is such an anomaly. If you are in his trust tree, he is the most loving, affectionate, playful boy. If you’re a stranger, it won’t go well. He was part of a litter of 9 in Mexico. They were all thrown in a dumpster. All died but two. Shelton did not have a good start at life an understatement. He has a great life now.

At any rate, they always make me happy, even though I’ve been struggling with the Flu my entire career of this the last 8 days.

Just finished caring for Oliver (white Pom), Sabrina (Black cat), and Fire an adorable cat. They’re all so different yet awesome. Sabrina stands up to Oliver and won’t take his crap. Oliver is oblivious to hissing and growling, he just wants to play. Fire loves pets and starts drooling. Lots of fun, except when Oliver is tormenting the cats.
