We offer weekly dog walks, as needed visits & in home pet sitting for all pets, as well as pet taxi. Contact us for a free consult!

We have years of professional pet sitting experience, are licensed, have liability insurance, and great references. Claws and Paws Pet Sitting Service provides loving, experienced pet care in the comfort of your own home. We are licensed , and serve the North County San Diego towns of Encinitas, Cardiff, Leucadia, Olivenhain, Carlsbad, San Marcos and San Elijo Hills. We are fully insured and have years of experience. Claws and Paws is owned by Gina McGrath. We strive to provide the best possible care for your pets while you are at work, on a business trip, or an extended vacation. We care for dogs, cats, small animals, horses and livestock, exotics/reptiles and birds. We offer daily dog walks, 1-4 visits/day, overnight care, pet taxi service and more! We offer services on holidays, weekends, and evenings, for your convenience.

🐾 National Pit Bull Awareness Day 🐾

Did you know that “Pit Bull” is not a single breed? The term is commonly used to describe several breeds and mixes that can share similar physical characteristics. Because of this, identifying a dog’s breed based on appearance alone can be difficult, and visual breed identification is not always accurate.

Like every dog, a Pit Bull type dog is an individual. Their behavior is influenced by many factors, including genetics, socialization, training, environment, and life experiences. Responsible ownership means providing appropriate training, veterinary care, enrichment, supervision, and plenty of opportunities to build positive experiences. At Claws & Paws Pet Sitting, we believe getting to know the individual behind the label is an important part of caring for every dog. ❤️🐶

“Can I pet your dog?”

It's a friendly question, and it's okay to say yes. But it's also okay to say no.

Maybe your dog is tired. Maybe they're overexcited. Maybe you're practicing calm greetings, or maybe you simply want to keep walking.

You aren't being rude by setting that boundary. And you're not failing at socialization.

Your dog isn't a public attraction, even if they're friendly and adorable.

Sometimes, walking past a person your dog really wants to greet is more valuable than the greeting itself.

It's one more opportunity to learn that seeing someone doesn't always mean interacting with them.
