Just 20 days remaining for sign up for our Big Buck Contest!
You asked, and we listened. The big buck contest is back!! 🦌
Eligibility:
• Open to all hunters who legally harvest a whitetail buck in Rains, Hunt, Hopkins, Delta, Van Zandt, Smith, or Wood Counties, Texas.
• Bucks must be free-range (no high-fence or pen-raised deer).
• Participants must register for the contest at Potts Feed Store’s Emory location prior to harvesting their buck.
Rules and Regulations:
Harvest Requirements-
• Bucks must be legally harvested during the 2025 Texas hunting season in accordance with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) regulations.
• Only whitetail bucks harvested in Rains, Hunt, Hopkins, Delta, Van Zandt, Smith, or Wood Counties are eligible.
• Proof of harvest location may be required (TPWD harvest log).
Entry Process:
• Hunters must register in person at Potts Feed Store before harvesting their buck.
• Entry forms must include the participant’s full name, contact information, and hunting license number.
• There is an entry fee of $25.
• Bow division side pot - $25.
Scoring and Judging:
• Bucks will be scored using the Boone and Crockett (B&C) gross scoring system.
• Scoring will take place at Potts Feed Store Mon–Fri: 7:30am–6:00pm or Sat 11:00am–1:00pm.
• Participants must present the buck’s antlers, skull plate intact, for official scoring. Bow entries must bring entire carcass for submission.
Submission Deadlines:
• Contest sign up will begin September 1, 2025. Sign up deadline- November 15, 2025.
Prizes:
• Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place based on the highest B&C gross scores. Bow division side pot is winner take all.
• Ties will be resolved by earliest harvest date, as verified by TPWD records.
Additional Requirements:
• All participants must comply with TPWD regulations, including tagging and reporting requirements.
• Potts Feed Store reserves the right to verify harvest details and disqualify entries for rule violations.
• Participants are expected to uphold ethical hunting practices and respect fellow hunters, landowners, and wildlife.
