“Annie's Salon for Pets Offers Grooming and Boarding Services
By Drew Hansen
Does your pup need his or her nails trimmed? Maybe your pup is in need of a fresh new haircut.
Do you want your pup to smell fresh and clean? If you said yes to any of those questions, Annie's Salon for Pets in Emmetsburg will provide those services for you.
Annie Origer loves dogs of all sizes. She began grooming dogs 43 years ago just a short distance away in West Bend. Along the way, Annie's daughter Sierra picked up on the trade. Sierra then, taught her sister Jacquelyn. Sierra has since gone on to create Groom Curriculum, a business that was featured in last year's progress edition. Jacquelyn has worked with Annie since she moved her business to Emmetsburg in March of 2021.
Annie explained how she has groomed a handful of show dogs, but most of the dogs she grooms are family pets. Appointments can be made by calling Annie at 515-341-4707.
"My favorite part of being a dog groomer is meeting so many people and their dogs." said Annie.
The Holidays are rapidly approaching. If you are going to be traveling a distance too far for your fur-baby, Annie's Salon for Pets also offers boarding
When Sierra's boarding service, Glamorous Paws, closed its doors, Annie wanted to be sure that people had somewhere safe in Emmetsburg for people to bring their pups. A new boarding area was added to the building. Cory Elbert Construction began the project in March of 2024 and it was completed in June. Beyond the door of the boarding area is an area outside for pups to run around and play.
My wife Cady and I had our Golden Retriever, Peanut, stay at Annie's when we were heading out of town for a vacation. We were both anxious about leaving her for the first time, but we were reassured that she would have a good time. When we returned, we knew that Peanut had a great stay. She was full of energy and very excited. Jacquelyn and Annie both ensured us that Peanut was well-behaved and had lots of fun during her stay. For us, without children, Peanut is our baby, and it was great to know that she was in great hands while we were away.”
