Service Peace Warriors

Service Peace Warriors Service dogs for Veterans and First Responders with PTSD and related disabilities.

After learning that twenty two American Veterans kill themselves each day here on American soil, we made a goal of putting as many (Teams Veteran and a Service Dog} together each year. We are committed to doing our part to change the lives of American Veterans who have come home in need of our support.

Day at the park pt1.

One thing we can’t emphasize enough: these service dogs are more than companions, they’re life changing tools that help veterans and first responders reclaim their independence and confidence.

As part of the training journey, we bring our teams into environments that may feel challenging or uncomfortable at first. With every outing, trust grows stronger between handler and dog. Step by step, that trust helps restore the freedom, confidence, and quality of life they once enjoyed.

Every walk, every challenge, and every success is another step forward.

One aspect of our 8-week handler class is that, while there is a tremendous amount of learning and valuable information shared, there are also intentional quiet moments. These moments allow handlers to simply spend time with their dogs, strengthen their bond, and build deeper trust.

At the same time, we strive to create a sense of community where participants can form friendships, support one another, and build meaningful connections. That's one of the incredible things these dogs make possible. They are more than just fluffy, lovable companions; they are powerful tools for healing, growth, support, and connection.

On June 5th, we started our Veteran and First Responder Service Dog Handler class. As always, it's a day full of joy and tears, as individuals who have helped raise puppies for our organization are invited to join in and hand off the puppy they helped raise to the Veteran or First Responder receiving them.

This is just the first of many weeks ahead for our Veterans and First Responders as they learn what is required to handle a service dog and the expectations placed on them as part of this process. Stay tuned as we share more!!!

What an amazing first weekend with this wonderful group of veterans and first responders! The first weekend is all about slowing down, connecting with their service dog, and beginning to build a bond rooted in trust. These next eight weeks are about so much more than training they're about forming a partnership, finding confidence, and creating a connection that can truly change lives. We're so proud of each of these teams and excited to watch their journey unfold.

As of yesterday, our next veteran and first responder handler class started, and we wanted to take a moment to say thank you to all the individuals like Lexi Rocks, Cassidy Cook, Heather Lee, and all our monthly, yearly, and longtime donors who are too numerous to name here, and to our puppy raisers. We couldn't do any of this without you!

Let's also not forget the tremendous continued support from businesses and organizations like Gesa Credit Union, Pacific Northwest Mustang Club, Hanford Mission Integration Solutions, Legends Casino Hotel, 3 Rivers Community Foundation, and Solar Spirits Distillery. It's amazing to see them come together with our local community to support veterans and first responders from across the Pacific Northwest! We can't wait to share pictures and stories from this class with everyone, so stay tuned!!!

As we near our next handler class, we want to take a moment and thank all of our puppy raisers for what they do. Without volunteers like you we couldn't turn these cute little furballs into service dogs that change lives. Thank you from all of us out here at the farm.

This past weekend was our second weekend of recerts for the year. The dogs had an absolute blast running through the crop fields. We all had a fun weekend out here and are happy to see all the teams working together.

With great sadness SPW Violet has passed. Violets mother was pregnant years ago in a kill shelter, where a rescue pulled her. She gave birth to around 8 puppies. Service Peace Warriors picked 2 from that litter, Sherman and Violet. Both made beautiful service dogs for veterans. She served her handler for many years, bringing comfort and joy, and will be missed by everyone who knew her. She was the first Service Dog to join the team out at Energy Northwest. Throughout her many years of service, there are countless people whom she has impacted through helping her veteran.
