🌟 Extra-Bright Spotlight with a Little, Special Change-Up! 🌟
Every week, we shine a spotlight on a special dog who’s been waiting more than 30 days for their forever home — along with the incredible Rescue Buddy helping them sparkle with confidence.
But this week, for the first of 2026, please meet SHIMMER! 5 1/2 years young.... and yes, she is a CAT! Her Rescue Buddy is Jack, our Operations Coordinator.
As soon as Shimmer arrived, we knew something wasn’t quite right. She was struggling with tummy troubles and weight loss. After extensive testing and care from multiple veterinarians, she was placed on a special diet with supportive medications for suspected IBD. Thankfully, she responded beautifully, has been stable since September, and we are excited to say that her medications are now being gradually tapered under veterinary supervision! 🙌
She spent much time in foster, where she thrived and became healthy under the guidance of our amazing foster team! Shimmer has been with us a year this week ... and NOW, it is time for her to shine and find her forever! ⭐️
She currently spends much of her time keeping Jack company in his office, where she’s earned a reputation as an excellent (and occasionally keyboard-invading) desk-mate: “I have to say, Shimmer is the best desk-mate anyone could ask for! While she’s not particularly intrigued by newsletters or data input, she’s more than happy to supervise from the chair beside me (or occasionally on my keyboard)! She likes to work independently, but will gladly ‘meow’ for some attention when she feels her hard work has earned it. And when the laser pointer comes out, she’s all business!
One of the things I like most about Shimmer is that she just wants to be close to you. She likes to have her own space, but as long as that space is by your side, then she’s as content as a cat can be!”
