After the Guadalupe River subsided following the July 4 floods in Texas, a brown pitbull named Hulk returned to the ruins of his family’s riverside home, which had been partially swept away. He stationed himself on a broken floorboard, sniffing the air. A day later, still unmoved, he caught the attention of worried neighbors and friends who contacted Kerrville Pets Alive, a local no-kill shelter. The shelter’s vet team arrived and discovered Hulk was unharmed, steadfastly waiting for his missing family to come back.

Happy Tails update on pibble Penny:
"Hi Karen! It’s Brittany with Penny. Obviously not her true birthday because who knows when but based on just some of the records we have received when I adopted her from you in 2016..Penny is 13 today! She’s definitely showing her age and got diagnosed with kidney disease in February. I’ve been doing fluids on her at home and she’s been a freakin rock star with it for the past almost 5 months. Losing muscle mass, unsteady sometimes on her feet especially with flooring but still eating and still has a little attitude. Thank you for giving me the best gift ever almost 9 years ago. She is the best dog and I’m so so lucky ❤️" "SO photogenic! She always has been! She is a joy. Never ever has that girl let out a growl or anything on us. A perfect and polite girl 💕 will give her the biggest hug for you! "

Wee Wendell needs a foster home while he recuperate from spine surgery. Can you please help Wendell?

We were blown away by the love and support our community showed in helping raise the funds for Wendell’s back surgery. Because of you, this little guy got the second chance he so desperately deserved. Now, we’re reaching out once more—with hopeful hearts—to ask for your help again.

🏡 Wendell needs a foster home.

His journey to healing isn’t over. Thanks to our incredible partners at Lombard Veterinary Hospital, Wendell is receiving physical therapy and specialized care during his recovery. He’ll need to visit the hospital 2x per week so ideally, we’re looking for a foster near the Lombard area that is also home most of the day. But most of all, we’re looking for someone with a heart full of compassion and the time to help Wendell continue his healing journey.

🐾 He’s dog-friendly, full of spirit, and just needs a soft place to land during this next chapter.

We are also open to rescue partners who may be able to take Wendell in—we just want the very best for this special boy.

This is a commitment, but it’s one that comes with deep purpose and the chance to make a true impact in Wendell’s life. ❤️
