The Ardennes may be the most lovable animal on the planet.❤️🌎

So what is an Ardennes?
The Ardennes is the smaller cousin of the European Brabant. (For reference: Iris's Sire is 15.2 hands, 1800 lbs : Her Dam is 15.1 hands 1700 lbs) with strong bone, square body structure ,heavy muscling, and moderate to heavy leg feathering. Contrary to some of the misinformation being distributed widely regarding the European drafts, the Ardenns has excellent leg health in the horses that we own, despite their heavy feathering. Stallions are typically the most effected by CPL. At 11 years young, Augustyn maintains excellent leg health with little impact from CPL. To be completely transparent, Augustyn has an EBRA leg health report performed by the staff veterinarians of the University of Georgia (also accompanying x-rays for 100% objectivity) to back our claim.
The Ardennes is very intelligent, soft hearted but a very willing hard worker. It has been our experience with the 5 horses on our farm they are the easiest to train of any breed we have owned. The breed is versatile as they have the strength, structure, and muscle to be heavy drafts but the height of a riding horse allowing for easy mounting/dismounting/ harnessing. Given their moderate size the Ardennes is very feed efficient compared to the much larger drafts. We feel Ardennes make the perfect small farm work horse and family companion!
Iris's sire Augustyn will be available for consideration to outside mares for the 2022 breeding season. He makes the perfect compliment to your European Brabant, American Brabant, or American Belgian mare when wishing to add bone and muscle yet reduce height- all with his true calm and affectionate temperament and excellent health.
