🎃Halloween Mischief🎃
A gang of furry troublemakers has been spotted tearing through our play yards and invading the hiking trails behind the Gilmer County Animal Shelter. She’s one year old, 66 pounds, and rides well in the car. She’s sweet, silly, loves to give hugs, and is always down to hang with her people or doggy friends.

Hope’s first year of life was spent tied to a 3-foot rope with no human contact. Because of that neglect and mistreatment, the world became a scary place. Since coming to our shelter, Hope has made incredible progress. She trusts us enough to get her in/out of her kennel & she absolutely loves long walks. She even takes treats from our hands now. Hope still won’t allow people to touch her. It’s not her fault. Her past experiences shaped her, and healing doesn’t happen on a schedule. She may never be comfortable with physical affection. We simply don’t know. What we do know is Hope deserves a home. She deserves a family who will love her for who she is, respect her boundaries, and celebrate every small victory. She shouldn’t spend her life in a shelter simply because she’s scared & shy. Hope is looking for a patient, understanding home with a securely fenced yard and a fun-loving dog companion to help her continue building trust. If you believe that love isn’t measured by cuddles, but by commitment & understanding, we’d love for you to meet Hope🩵

🐾Alumni Update🐾
Chipper was found alone in the woods and because space was not available at the shelter, the Ray Family fostered this sweetheart until he was adopted. He’s now been with his new parents, Carol & Robert, for about a month and they say, "He is a bundle of energy 🤗 He loves us and we love him ❤️" We’re so grateful for all who were part of the joint effort it often takes to save a dog, find a foster and ultimately get them into a forever home. You’re a special & lucky boy, Chipper!

National Cat Day shoutout from our cat‑friendly dogs! 🐶 ❤️ 🐱

We’re often asked, “How are they with cats?” and we’re happy to say we have several dogs who are more than ready to welcome a feline roommate into their lives. Some are genuinely excited to make a new best friend, while others are perfectly content being respectful, drama‑free neighbors. Either way, these pups have proven they can share their space with a cat and keep the peace, making them great candidates for homes with furry siblings of the whiskered variety.

Meet June 💕

June is an estimated 5.5 year old mixed breed female available for adoption through the Gilmer County Animal Shelter in Ellijay GA. Look at that face!!

According to her foster, June is an absolute angel with people; so lovable, gentle, and affectionate. Because she prefers to be the queen of her castle, she will truly thrive as the only dog in a single pet household where she can soak up all the attention.

June:

🐾Incredibly sweet, affectionate, and people oriented
🐾House-trained
🐾Knows sit and stay commands
🐾LOVES car rides and does well in the car
🐾Is good on a leash and prefers short walks, and when she's done, she's done!
🐾Best suited to be the only dog in the household
🐾No cats for Miss June
🐾Has anxiety during storms and is afraid of loud noises - hey, nobody's perfect
🐾Vaccinated, spayed and micro-chipped

🐾Alumni Update🐾
Mark and Stephanie adopted sweet Amelia back in early September and she is doing great! She also gained an EPIN alum (Mira, f/k/a Gwen) as her big sister. Amelia is now Mable and her family says, “She and Mira are very close. Mable is growing fast!” You look beautiful, Mable! So happy you found your family🙏🏼 Luv to Mira, too😘 Thank you, Mark & Stephanie!
