Did you know that PRCA rodeos can't happen without a vet present? Just like they can't happen without emergency services for the human athletes present, the animal athletes are top priority, too. The night before the Cle Elum Roundup Association Rodeo, we got a worried call that the vet they had lined up wouldn't be able to make it! Knowing how valuable it is to have these events in our community and knowing no other vet in the valley could commit either, Dr. Wells and her husband dropped their 13th year wedding anniversary plans to vet at the rodeo. We're glad Daniel Beard Rodeo has excellent stock athletes and no one needed her help even if she was prepared to do so!

Spring is in the air! It must be the sunny weather, but less and less people have needed routine veterinary care on Saturdays that we've been struggling to keep the day booked. Considering that and the fact that Dr. Wells' kiddos have been begging for more time with mom, we're switching our permanent hours to Mondays through Thursdays 10a-7p. We're also considering opening up farm calls for livestock appointments. This will be based on community need-- let us know if that is something you've been needing and having difficulty finding whether you have small ruminants🐐, camelids🦙, large ruminants 🦬, flocks of sheep 🐑 or flocks of birds🐓.

Heads up that we will be closed this Saturday 3/22 and next Monday 3/24 for a quick spring break. We will resume normal business hours 3/27, so if there are any refills or products you need to pick up between now and then, make sure to get your requests in by tomorrow!

It's been such a warm welcome to the valley! We've been one blessed pet-vet team!(see what I did there? 😁)

Heads up for the turkey holiday:
we will be closed this Thursday, but open Friday and Saturday.

To avoid unnecessary trips to the clinic this weekend, avoid feeding your pets dinner scraps. This is the season vets like to call GI season because we know how much people love to share their tasty foods with their animals, but it usually causes vomiting, diarrhea, pancreatitis, and risks of bones stuck in the gut become a foreign body, needing surgery. If they don't swallow them, the bones themselves can break teeth!
Also, fun fact: dogs get way more satisfaction from the smell of the food than the taste-- ever get frustrated that the food tastes sooooo good, but when you share if with your pup they gulp it down without a second's hesitation to savor it? That's because they already savored it before they ate it! So let them savor only the smells and avoid an emergency vet visit this weekend!

And for those of you wondering, yes, we ALSO treat turkeys!! Although, we can't help if you burn your turkey roast... That's a sad loss we all can mourn...

It's official! We open today! We're glad to be able to serve every type of species of animal in the valley! Our updated hours for winter are Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays 11a-8p. You can make an appointment by calling (509-925-5911) or requesting one online.

Edit: We're SO THANKFUL for so many people wanting to get in to be seen! That said, we've been swarmed with calls and it's so much that it's overwhelming our phone system! If you're trying to make an appointment, best way to make sure you're on the schedule right now is to make an online request. We are also more flexible with messages via the website and email since that allows us to handle multiple requests at a time.

Some of the most frequent questions we've had so far today:
-- Yes, ALL species means ALL species 😉. Dr. Wells has experience with a lot of species and loves the variety!
-- We apologize for the phone line issues, please contact us by other means if you need to get through as we're working as hard as we can to respond to everyone!
-- Yes, we WILL offer general surgery procedures like spays, neuters, dentals (and yes, even exotics surgeries), but don't have all our inventory in yet to finalize prices-- those prices will be available later this week and we'll post general estimates on our website. For specific estimates for all your pets needs at the time of the procedure, an appointment will be needed to discuss this in person.
-- Yes, we DO offer euthanasia and cremation services. Schedule an appointment for the consultation for euthanasia and we can likely perform the service during the same time slot.
-- No we do not offer mobile services. However, if you do need to haul-in, consider the possibility of the loud noises from the train passing by -- they don't give us a schedule of the trains!

A reminder that all previous Critter Care clients are transferring automatically over to us, so no need to do anything special! If you had recurring services with Critter Care, we can also accommodate those. Give us a call to get on the schedule and we can make sure we have everything ready for you!

Receptionist: Full-time receptionist. Hours expected are Thurs, Fri, Sat, Mondays 11a-9p with a 1 hour lunch. Hourly pay DOE. Prefer experience in medical reception or customer care.

Full-Time LVT: 1 Full time LICENSED vet technician, preferred with experience. Must have active LVT or similar license in WA state. Hours expected are Thurs, Fri, Sat, Mondays 11a-9p with 1 hour scheduled lunch. Position is hourly paid starting at $25/hr DOE.

Part Time LVT: Part-time LICENSED vet technician, preferred with experience. Must have active LVT or similar license in WA state. Hours expected are Fri and Sat 11a-9p with 1 hour scheduled lunch. Position is hourly paid starting at $25/hr DOE.

We're proud to announce more specifics: Critter Care in Ellensburg is becoming Bless This Pet Vet Clinic! We're very honored to earn the respect of Dr. Thea McFadden at Critter Care and we're hoping to continue to build on the business she started twenty-four years ago and offer much needed services to the valley and beyond. We will be open for scheduled appointments and urgent care with owner-operator Dr. Kaylin Wells beginning on November 7th. This is a mixed animal practice, but we're unable to offer farm calls at this time-- haul-in only. Regular office hours will be Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday 11a-8p.
