⭐ Training Update: Maui ⭐

Maui has been putting in real work in his Bundle Program sessions lately. Outside, he's been practicing his off-leash commands around distractions — staying focused and responsive even when there's plenty going on around him. That kind of reliability off-leash is what this program is all about.

He's also been working on his down-stay, keeping his attention locked on his trainer even when distractions are competing for it. A solid down-stay is one of those skills that pays off everywhere — at home, out on walks, when guests come over. It's the foundation of a dog you can trust in almost any situation.

Maui is proving he's got what it takes. Keep it up, buddy! 🐾

⭐ Training Update: Birdie ⭐

Birdie is working on one of our favorite skills in Basic Bootcamp — "go lay down," which is part of what we call the place command. The idea is simple: when asked, Birdie goes to her spot and settles there calmly instead of hovering, jumping, or getting underfoot.

It's one of those skills that quietly changes everything at home. Cooking dinner, answering the door, sitting down to eat — having a dog who knows how to go settle on her own makes all of it so much easier for the whole family.

She's putting in the work, and we love seeing her figure it out. Keep it up, Birdie! 🐾

Teddy is making some real progress in his Community Program this week! We've been working on his down stay, and today we pushed it further — literally. We're now able to step further and further away while Teddy holds his position, which is a big deal.

A solid down stay is one of those skills that quietly makes everyday life so much easier. It means Teddy can settle calmly while guests come in, stay put at the vet, or hold still when you need a moment — without you having to hover right next to them.

Theo has started working on recall outside as part of his Community Program — and that's a big milestone worth celebrating. Recall (coming when called) is one of the most important skills a dog can have, and practicing it outside introduces all the real-world distractions that make it actually reliable.

Taylor is working on recall this week as part of her Basic Bootcamp Program — and she's already getting started on it outside, where the real distractions live.

Recall is one of those skills that sounds simple but matters more than almost anything else. When your dog comes when called — every time, not just when nothing interesting is happening — it changes the whole dynamic at home and out in the yard. Echo has been putting in some serious work this week in her Community Program, and this photo says it all — she's holding a down-stay right next to sheep. Real sheep. As in, live animals within a few feet of her, and she's just calmly holding her position like it's no big deal.

That kind of focus matters more than it might look. A dog that can stay calm and focused around major distractions — animals, movement, unexpected things — is a dog that's easier to trust in everyday life. Whether that's staying settled when guests come over, holding a stay at the vet, or just being a calmer presence at home, this is the foundation that makes all of it possible.

⭐ Training Update: Sophie ⭐

Sophie has hit an exciting milestone in her Service Dog Program — she's taken her training on the road and is now working at local stores out in the community!

This is a big step. Public access training is where everything Sophie has been practicing really gets put to the test — new smells, unfamiliar people, unpredictable sounds, and environments that don't pause for anyone. Staying calm, focused, and well-mannered through all of that is exactly what a service dog needs to do day in and day out.

Real-world exposure like this helps Sophie learn that no matter where she is, her job stays the same. That kind of reliability is what will make her genuinely useful to her handler — not just in familiar settings, but everywhere life takes them.

🌟 Training Update: Peanut 🌟

Peanut is working through her Community Program here at The Dog's Spot, and today she was learning "go lay down" — one of those skills that sounds simple but makes a real difference in everyday life.

"Go lay down" gives your dog a designated spot to settle when things get busy at home — guests arriving, dinner being cooked, kids doing homework. Instead of jumping up or pacing around, Peanut learns to go find her spot and stay calm there. It's one of the most practical things a dog can learn.

She's picking it up beautifully, and we couldn't be prouder of her progress so far.
