Jeudy came in today for a free training day, and we got straight to work on something her mom specifically requested — a go lay down command. The idea is simple: Jeudy learns to go lie down in a designated place on cue, and stay there calmly until she's released.

This one is a game-changer for everyday life. Whether company comes over, dinner's being cooked, or things just get a little hectic, having a reliable spot command means Jeudy's owner has a calm, easy way to settle her without any frustration — for either of them.

🌟 Training Update: Cloe 🌟

Cloe is making some real progress in her Puppy Primer Program this week! We've been working on her "go lay down" command — and not just in easy, low-key settings. We've been steadily adding more distance between us and Cloe when we give the cue, and introducing more distractions while she holds her position.

That combination — distance plus distractions — is actually one of the harder things to teach, because it asks a puppy to stay calm and committed even when the world around them gets more interesting. When Cloe can do this reliably, it means her family will have a real go-to tool at home: whether company comes over, things get busy, or they just need her to settle so everyone can take a breath.

She's handling it beautifully. Keep it up, Cloe! 🐾

Watson just kicked off his first day with us here at The Dog's Spot, and we couldn't be more excited to have him! He's jumping into our Leash Free Program — a 6-week board & train built around off-leash reliability, from advanced recall to distraction proofing to real outdoor adventures.

Before a dog can thrive off-leash, we want to make sure the fundamentals are solid, so we're starting Watson with loose leash walking. That means learning to stay relaxed and connected on leash rather than pulling ahead or lagging behind — a skill that makes every walk more enjoyable for him and for his family.

It's day one, and we're already looking forward to watching this guy grow. Welcome to the team, Watson!

Ares is making some solid progress in his Basic Bootcamp Program! Today's focus was on building out his down-stay — we're pushing the distance farther and adding in more distractions while he holds his position.

Down-stay is one of those skills that sounds simple but takes real patience to develop. Teaching Ares to stay put even when things are happening around him means his family will have a reliable way to settle him when guests arrive, during mealtimes, or anytime they just need him to hold still and be calm.

🌟 Training Update: Athena 🌟

Athena is making some real progress in her Basic Bootcamp Program — today she worked on her down-stay, holding position from a greater distance and with more distractions around her than before.

Distance and distractions are actually two of the harder pieces of a solid stay. It's easy for a dog to hold still when their person is right there and the environment is quiet. But being able to stay calm and in place when you're farther away — or when something interesting is happening nearby — that's what makes the skill genuinely useful at home.

This is the kind of thing that pays off in everyday moments: answering the door, having guests over, or just needing Athena to settle while life is happening around her.
