Being Open and Honest with Our 270 Kennels Family 🐾
This post isn’t an easy one to make, but we believe in being open and honest about every part of our journey — the good and the tough.
We truly love raising these gentle giants and seeing the joy they bring to their new families. There’s nothing that makes us happier than watching our puppies grow and knowing they’re brightening someone’s life.
However, after careful observation, we’ve discovered that Tank and Athena’s puppies are prone to developing cherry eye. While this is a condition that can be corrected with a simple surgery, we feel it would be morally wrong to continue breeding this pair knowing that their offspring could face this issue. Unfortunately, there are no testing that can be done to determine if the cherry eye is going to occur.
Moving forward, we will be offering Tank, Athena, and their remaining litter as pet-only homes (at a reduced fee) — meaning no breeding rights will be available. Both Tank and Athena will also be retired and offered to loving homes where they can enjoy life as cherished companions.
We ask for your patience and understanding as we navigate this transition. Please keep us in your prayers as we work to find healthy, happy, and strong breeding stock that will allow us to continue providing the wonderful companions you’ve come to love from 270 Kennels.
Ps. Faye and Franklin are scheduled to have surgery December 2nd.
Thank you all for your continued support, kindness, and trust. 💙
