Dear Family and Friends,

I wanted to take a moment to share some heartfelt thoughts as we bring home our beloved Abby, our faithful canine companion who has been by our side for the past 10 years. Abby has witnessed the laughter and joy of our three children growing up, always by their side, offering love and loyalty that only a dog can provide.

Even though she is no longer with us physically, her spirit and presence will forever remain in our hearts. We are grateful for the countless memories we created together, the comfort she provided during tough times, and the unconditional love she so freely gave.

As we lay her to rest, we find peace in knowing that she is free from pain and suffering. Thank you, Abby, for being such an important part of our family. Your love has shaped us in ways we will always cherish.

Rest in peace, dear friend.

To those who may not be part of the canine community, it is often difficult to convey the profound bond that exists between humans and their dogs. Many might dismiss these remarkable creatures as "just a dog" or "just a pet," yet to me, they represent so much more. They embody unconditional love, unwavering loyalty, and cherished companionship. Within the realm of canine sports, one discovers a unique dimension of connection and commitment that transcends ordinary experiences.

The journey I embarked upon began with an extraordinary canine— the missing piece of my life's puzzle. With her impressive lineage, I am eternally grateful for the privilege of welcoming her into my life a decade ago. Throughout our time together, she imparted invaluable lessons that shaped me as both a handler and a devoted owner. We cherished countless moments filled with joy, celebration, and personal growth.

As my life took a beautiful turn with the arrival of my children, she remained a steadfast presence, offering comfort and companionship through every transition. She possessed an innate ability to seamlessly shift from being a gentle family friend to a fierce competitor, embodying the essence of versatility and dedication.

My gratitude extends not only to her but also to the many remarkable canine athletes that have graced my life. She was the catalyst that ignited my passion for this extraordinary journey, revealing the depth and richness that these incredible animals possess. Their significance extends far beyond the investment of time, resources, and affection; every moment and every sacrifice is undeniably worthwhile. The trophies, ribbons, and medals we earned together stand as a testament to our shared hard work and unwavering dedication.

This morning, I faced an arduous farewell. She lived a long and fulfilling life, and as she took her final breath in my arms at 10:01 AM, I felt as though a fragment of my very soul departed with her. Until we reunite, she shall never be forgotten. She will forever occupy a special place in my heart and in the hearts of my children. She was an exceptional canine athlete, a loyal companion, and a treasured member of our family.

RIP ABBY

From dog people....

Some people will say, “It’s just a dog,” but it’s not just a dog. A dog becomes your best friend, the one who’s always there when everyone else is too busy. They’re the comfort when life gets hard, the one who sits with you in your lowest moments without asking for anything in return. They’re the companion who makes you laugh after a long day, even when you don’t feel like smiling.

Your dog becomes your protector, always alert, always ready to keep you safe, even when you don’t realize it. They’re your walking partner, your daily reminder to step outside and breathe when the world feels overwhelming. They’re the keeper of your secrets, sitting by your side while you vent about things no one else will hear.

A dog can become your family, the constant in a world that changes too fast. They’re not just there for the good times, but for the moments when everything feels like it’s falling apart. They’re the one who looks at you with love, no matter what kind of day you’ve had. It’s never just a dog—it’s a piece of your heart, your companion in ways that words can never fully capture.

The unfortunate truth of owning and running a business.

Running a business is really hard.

What they don’t tell you is that it can cause severe stress and anxiety, and drains you mentally to the point of depression in even the most laid back people.

People will talk about you, compare you to others, use you, they will view you as a service and not a person anymore.

Friends and family will expect discounts and people will value you and your hard work less than a big chain store.

You have to worry about if you forget to email/message or call someone back, are they going to think it was on purpose? Did you disappoint them? Will they hold that against you? When in reality you just can’t get to everyone’s messages, emails and phone calls.

Starting up and running a successful business puts incredible strain on personal lives and relationships, many of which fail because there is just often no work life balance. You need to be the director, the worker, the admin, the marketing team, the accountant, the cleaner... All while being a parent, a husband or a wife, family support, friend... it’s one of the hardest things you will try and balance. If you give your time, you will sacrifice financial benefit. If you strive for financial benefit, you will have to sacrifice your time. It’s just the way it goes when your business is relying on you to survive and you’re relying on your business to provide!

There’s a reason you don’t see many people succeed in small businesses after 5 years. If they are successful they are overwhelmed. It takes a toll. It’s freaking exhausting. Especially the past couple of years when so much has been out of our control.

Here’s a small reminder that we are just normal people with hectic lives. Be kind, be patient, support small businesses... and hopefully more of us will stick around!
