Phil & I have been in and out of court with Kathy Siegel of TeddyBear Goldens in Kettel River, MN (Slippers & Bougie's breeder) for the past 1.5 years. Our goal in court was have our money returned to us in accordance with MN Stat. 325F. 791. Our Bougie was born with defective kidneys, a congenital condition. Although Kathy offered us a refund, twice, she never followed through.
It’s been difficult for me to stay silent while we awaited a court order. We finally had our TRIAL, yes I said TRIAL, which was on August 1st, the same day we had to say goodbye to our most amazing girl Slippers. To say the least, that week was the worst week of my life! Slippers went into the hospital that Thursday and we found out that Friday morning she was diagnosed with cancer and we had our Trial we have been waiting for 1.5 years that afternoon and that evening we said goodbye to Slip.
About 2 weeks later, we learned that the judge ruled in our favor - - we WON our case against Kathy!! It was bittersweet because of our huge loss to our family that same evening. I can finally say we WON! Kathy was in the wrong not to give us our money back. Since judgment was entered, we haven’t heard anything from her and she has failed to pay us in accordance with the Judge’s order.
Please share this post to everyone you know … please Bougie's story is very important to get out and share! We want you to know that you have specific rights under MN Stat. 325F.791 - .792. Even if you have a contract with a dog breeder, Minnesota statues give you rights and void out the contract if it conflicts with the this MN statute. Even at trial, Kathy repeatedly denied that this statute was applicable to her, she continually testified that dog breeding was a hobby for her. Furthermore, her business, TeddyBear Goldens, is NOT registered with the Minnesota Secretary of State. Finally, Kathy testified that she did not believe the MN law on point for dog breeders was applicable to her or her business.
