Morrison saw the need for a full-service clinic in the growing community of Elk Rapids, as well as the surrounding areas. Dr. Morrison and his wife, Kim, also operate the Suttons Bay Animal Hospital in Suttons Bay. They expanded their services to Elk Rapids in January 2009. Our new facility is located a few blocks south of downtown Elk Rapids on U.S. 31. With our new facility, we are completely co

Did you know that we offer rehabilitation services?

What is canine rehabilitation?
Specifically targeted physical therapy techniques adapted specifically for dogs. Just like humans, dogs break bones, tear ligaments, develop arthritis, strain muscles, undergo back pain, and require surgery. Rehabilitation can assist with these conditions by:
· Reducing pain/inflammation
· Increasing strength/muscle mass
· Improving coordination and gait
· Improving joint range of motion and flexibility
· Increasing core stability and balance
· Enhancing endurance

Common components in a rehabilitation treatment session include modalities (laser, TENS, ice/heat etc.), therapeutic exercises, underwater treadmill, manual therapy, massage, assistance with assisted devices, and assigned home exercises.

Meet Chunk!
This sweet almost-3 year old kitty was relinquished to the hospital due to some urinary issues. He is looking for a new forever home! Chunk has Feline Idiopathic Cystitis. This can cause some flare ups of inappropriate urination, blood in the urine. Often times this can be aggravated by stress in the home, so he would be best suited in a house with no other pets and pretty relaxed people (probably no small kids). You may also notice that Chunk is pretty.... well, chunky 😂. This may also contribute to his urinary issues as he is at a very unhealthy weight. When the hospital took him in he was 22.0lb and is now 19.58lb, so progress is happening! We have had him for about 2 months, and weight loss is possible! He will need a family who can handle the possibility of his urinary issues, work on weight loss, and feed him a special urinary wet food, likely life long.
He is very sweet, and loves to be pet and cuddled.
