spay & neuter, bringing awareness to animal cruelty, & raising money for basic medical needs for the animals we help. We are not a regular adoption organization rescue, we do not take in dogs to adopt out. We are more of a half-way home rescue, and pull dogs from local kill shelters to get them vetted and ready for their next step rescue where they will find an adoptive family. At times when we can we will help out owner surrenders to keep them out of the shelters as well. In the past we partnered with a southern kill shelter in a rural county area, but due to staff changes we are no longer able to help there. Some dogs would come in way more sick/injured then we could help, or they had some very serious behavior issues that couldn't be modified (or there’s no partner rescues who would be willing to step up to help). We would never take a chance with anyone’s safety (human or animal) and lie to get the dog out either, so we couldn't save everyone but we tried. We raised/collected pledges for partner rescues who pulled dogs through us, and donated the funds to the rescues once the dog leaves the shelter subtracting any fees we incurred. At times when we had a foster to take in a dog until a rescue was found we were happy since we could make more room at the shelter, since the shelter didn’t have an actual foster program. Sadly now that shelter's euthanasia rate will get higher since we are no longer able to help. Most of our partners wanted proper behavior assessments, which none of the staff at the shelter have the director of this organization's skill set or background in dog training. We were able to get out dogs that were seen by shelter staff to be aggressive or feral, since we knew what the actions truly that the dogs were showing usually due to fear. We are very honest, and transparent in everything we do. If you have any questions about ANYTHING please send us a message. We are always happy to answer, just give us time since we aren’t always available. We are all volunteers and do not get paid for anything we do for these dogs. You can check out our website for more information, and to find a foster form if you’re interested. www.theunforgottensouls.com

We wanted to take a minute to say thank you.

When we shared that our transport van needed major brake repairs, we honestly didn’t know what to expect. The response from our supporters has been incredible. Every donation, share, comment, and message of encouragement has reminded us how many people care about these dogs and the work we do for them.

Because of your generosity, we’ve made great progress toward covering the repair bill. We are so grateful.

We still have about $500 left to raise to fully cover the cost of the repairs, and we’re hoping to get there soon. This van isn’t just a vehicle to us. It’s how dogs leave the shelter and get to safety. It’s how they make their way to foster homes, rescues, and second chances.

Every time that van pulls out with a dog on board, it means another life is getting the opportunity it deserves.

If you’re able to help, no amount is too small. And if donating isn’t possible right now, sharing this post helps more than you know.

Thank you for standing behind Unforgotten Souls and helping us keep this van on the road. The dogs are counting on it, and so are we.

We still need $500 to reach our goal and cover the remaining repair costs.

Donations can be made via our website and comment “van repairs” https://theunforgottensouls.com/donate

Thank you again for all of the support.

It’s hard to understand how Sassy is still sitting in a shelter kennel waiting for someone to notice her.

Sassy is only about a year old and around 50 pounds. She should be spending her days learning about family life, chasing toys, and curling up on a couch at night. Instead, she’s been at the shelter for almost two months and is now on the euthanasia list.

She has the sweetest face and those ears that seem to perk up every time someone walks by, hoping they might stop for her. Every day she waits, and every day she deserves better than what shelter life can offer.

We’re asking for shares, pledges, rescue interest, or an adopter willing to give this young girl a chance. Pledges help rescues step forward by showing there is support behind her. Even a small pledge can make a difference when enough people come together.

If you’re looking for a dog to add to your family, please come meet Sassy. If you can’t adopt, please share her story. The right person may be just one share away.

Come Meet Sassy at:

Please help us show Sassy that her story doesn’t end here.

Our Unforgotten Souls transport van had a really rough week and ended up needing major brake repairs. This is the van we rely on to transport dogs from the shelter to their rescues up North — without it, we simply can’t get these dogs to safety.

The repair estimate came to $1,240.14, plus the $187 diagnostic fee, bringing the total to $1,427.14. We know times are hard for everyone, but we are asking for help because every dollar we raise goes directly toward saving dogs, vetting, food, and transport. Unexpected repairs like this hit us hard.

This van is more than just a vehicle to us. It has carried so many dogs on their freedom rides to rescues, fosters, and new lives. Right now, it needs help so it can get back on the road and continue doing what it was meant to do.

If you are able to donate, even a small amount helps more than you know. Donations can be made here:

Please comment “van repairs” with your donation so we can keep track and thank everyone helping us.

The repair estimates are posted in the comments section of this post for anyone who would like to see them.

We are so grateful for every single supporter who stands behind us and helps make this rescue work possible. Thank you for continuing to believe in these dogs and in our mission.

Blanco has been sitting at the shelter for almost 3 months, and every day he still greets people with the biggest smile on his face. He is only around 2 years old and has such a happy, loving personality. Blanco did well with other dogs and kids at the shelter, and he just wants someone to give him a chance.

It is hard to understand how a dog this sweet keeps getting overlooked. He watches people walk by his kennel every day hoping someone will stop for him. Blanco deserves more than a shelter run and a euthanasia deadline hanging over him.

We are trying hard to help him get seen by adopters or rescue, but he needs pledges to help attract rescue interest. Even small pledges can make a difference when enough people come together for him.

Please share Blanco everywhere you can. Someone out there is looking for a dog just like him — they just have not found him yet.

Brûlée has been sitting in the shelter for over 2 months, and every day he waits a little longer for someone to notice him. He’s only 2 years old, around 40 pounds, and has the sweetest face that looks at you like he’s still hoping his person is coming.

He did well with the other dogs at the shelter and just wants a chance to be loved and safe again. Instead, he’s now on the euthanasia list and running out of time.

Brûlée needs rescue interest, an adopter, or pledges to help a rescue step forward for him. Sometimes dogs like Brûlée get overlooked simply because they’ve been there too long. But he is still here, still smiling, and still hoping someone sees that he matters.

Please help share Brûlée and help us show there is support behind him. Every pledge and every share could help change his future.

RESCUED

Moose is so close to safety. He only needs $100 more in pledges to secure his rescue.

He is a calm, gentle 3-year-old Newfie mix who did well with other dogs and has the sweetest personality. We finally have rescue interest for him, and we just need help getting him the rest of the way there.

If you can pledge even a few dollars or simply share his post, it could make all the difference for Moose.

Elvis is running out of time, and we are so close to getting him safe. He only needs $200 more in pledges to secure his rescue.

This sweet boy had a home. He had someone who loved him. But after his owner became seriously ill and was hospitalized, Elvis ended up alone in the shelter through no fault of his own. Now he sits on the euthanasia list waiting and hoping someone will help him make it out alive.

Elvis has rescue interest right now. The opportunity is there. We just need to finish raising the final $200 in pledges so the rescue can commit and pull him to safety.

He is such a happy, friendly boy who still greets people with a smile and wagging tail even after everything he has been through. Dogs like Elvis should not lose their lives because they ran out of time.

Please consider pledging any amount to help save him. Even small pledges add up quickly when people come together.

Please also share his story. One share could reach the person who helps save his life.

RESCUED
Matti is one of those dogs who quietly steals your heart. She looks at people with so much hope, even after sitting in a kennel day after day wondering if anyone will come for her. She deserves more than shelter walls and uncertainty. She deserves a soft bed, a family, and the chance to finally feel safe.

We are so close to giving her that chance, but we cannot do it without help. Every pledge matters and every share helps get her story seen by more people.

Please help us save Matti. She has waited long enough for someone to choose her.
