It is with sincere condolences to the Carnahan family as we all mourn the passing of Elbert County patriarch Charlie Carnahan. Charlie was a long time fair board member, Parade Marshal in 2016, 4H alumni and advocate, Centennial Farm and Ranch honoree and just an overall amazing human being who loved and supported the Elbert County Fair. Services will be held Sunday, October 19th here on the Elbert County Fairgrounds. Rest in Peace Cowboy! Your legacy lives on!

It takes work to keep all the many different tools in the practice in good condition. Sharpening, buffing, lubrication, tightening, rust control, cleaning, disinfecting. Some of these shoeing and trimming tools are older than Dr. Emerson, others are brand new.

Just a little reminder that even though we can see a storm on radar, sometimes our animals know more about what's coming.

This spring you may have seen me rolling up in the new practice truck!! Thank you to all my clients for your continued support. It was not easy waiting 18 months to order (then re-order) the right truck that would be tough enough to keep up with working a mobile large animal practice on rural roads and ranches around the Palmer Divide and Front Range of Colorado.

When I want to carry everything your animal may need, it takes a lot of room and packing skills. I need the ability to get it all to you calmly or as soon as possible whatever is happening between here and there! From the overcrowded urban highways, to the dirt roads that can become deep slick mud. Fog or snow from a few inches to suddenly 2 feet deep. Or making my way across a pasture following a dusty high desert cattle trail. Handling temps from -20F to 120F. Keeping medication bottles from breaking, freezing, spilling, etc. and protecting sensitive equipment, hauling hot and cold water as well as providing power and light.

This truck is my office, my emergency response vehicle, essentially my "Brick and Mortar" clinic on wheels, and it's always ready to go.

"Roads? Where [I'm] going I don't need roads!!"

Sometimes, it's nice to be a part of other activities on the ranch. Having a good horse that likes to move cows and sort is a blessing. Especially if you are a constant observer of animal behavior and body language. I was never meant to be a city gal.
