Happy opening day from Whitetail River! We all know EHD is hitting hard this year for our local counties and could potentially make it more difficult in getting a full bag limit without traveling across the state. I just want to remind everyone that even though the deer might not be as prosperous to still get out in the woods and enjoy it whether it be squirrel hunting, trapping, coyote calling, whatever calls to you to be in the woods with Mother Nature. As a yearly reminder here is a reference photo on how to properly cape out your deer and cut the neck joint from the carcass. Whitetail River prices this year are…

Got a pretty red squirrel done up today, Jasmine Lockhart was so proud of her squirrel she wanted to do it herself and we walked through the steps on how to mount her own squirrel, it turned out beautiful! One of West Virginias golden treasures!

Had a blast at the WV trapping event in glenville today! Had a big turn out and lots of people join the fun in watching my skunk skinning demo, hope to see everyone back again for the southeastern trapping event held in glenville wv October 10-11 I’ll be there Saturday at 11am if you wanna catch that event, I’m forever greatful for the trapping association for inviting me every year to tag along in the fun and to learn more about the trade from different people every year!

Cute river otter put together! This one was a blast to do and made me fall in love all over again with mounting fur bearers! Found the drift wood ourselves and it came together beautifully to put this river otter back in his natural habitat!

Cats out of the bag! Got this beautiful bobcat finished today laying down and couldn’t be happier with it! Customer requested to keep the wires on the paws for the time being. I will always have respect for these creatures and the beautiful features they posses! Definitely one of my favorites to mount!

I was very blessed this weekend at our West Virginia taxidermy competition! I entered three pieces this year which was a pedestal mount whitetail, shoulder mount coyote which also entered in the habitat division, and a baby raccoon. The raccoon got two awards, one for best amateur piece and another for amateur that tells the biggest story. I am also now a part of the WVTA board and am excited to see and learn as much as I can. I am thankful for the many blessings from the good Lord and spending time with friends and family this weekend🙏
