Winter can be tough for rabbits as they navigate the cold and threats around them. 🐇❄️

This season, they seek shelter in brush and search for food. A little wildness in your yard isn’t neglect—it’s kindness and support!

🍃 Native shrubs
🌾 Leaf litter
🚗 Slow down at dawn & dusk

These small choices can make a big difference. Let nature thrive; little lives depend on it! ✨

Just a reminder: possums, raccoons, and skunks don’t hibernate. In cold weather, they look for sheltered places to stay warm, and it’s completely normal to see them moving around in winter. If they rest near your home, it’s okay to let them be—they’re simply trying to survive the season.

If the weather is severe and you’d like to help, you can leave out a small amount of appropriate food, such as fruits or regular dog or cat food. Avoid processed meats or anything heavily seasoned. Fresh water placed low to the ground can also make a big difference, since natural sources often freeze.

Please remember: helping wildlife doesn’t mean drawing them close to your home or encouraging them to rely on people. Simply giving them safe space and occasional support during extreme cold is enough.

These animals play an important role in the ecosystem. Opossums, in particular, are known for eating ticks and other pests that we’d rather not have around.

All life matters—and a little understanding goes a long way in helping our wild neighbors get through winter safely.

When freezing winter nights come to Hungary, stray dogs often battle just to survive.

Local engineers responded not with electric heaters, but with a clever, compassionate solution: solar-heated tunnels. These shelters are built using dark, heat-absorbing materials and a thermal-gel layer that traps sunlight during the day — then gradually releases the warmth at night.

Their curved, insulated design shields the dogs from harsh winds and keeps the interior cozy — no cables, no electricity bills, no complicated upkeep.

Animal welfare groups across Eastern Europe are increasingly adopting these shelters.

They work even in remote areas, require almost no maintenance, and offer vulnerable dogs a real chance to make it through bitter winters. It’s living proof that when engineering is guided by kindness, technology can change lives for the better.
