Join us for a public access training outting for service dog in training, Sekhmet!

Public access training is just part of the service dog training process but it's a very important part. A service dog should know how to behave and keep their focus when in public acting proffesional and always under the handlers control. Sekhmet did wonderful at demonstrating how a service dog should act in public. She stayed focused, listened to all cues I gave her, and really showed me how much she's retained in her board and train with us.

I can't wait to see her and her handler in action together. She is turning into one heck of a service dog!

Its spring time🌷 and so many people are getting new babies! So let's discuss socializing!

So many people think socializing their puppy means letting them meet as many people and other dogs as they possibly can and taking the to daycare/dog parks. And while yes, that would be the definition of "socializing" in any dictionary, that's not quite what it means for puppies. This can create several problems for your pup ranging from over arousal when seeing people to reactivity and anxiety.

Socializing a puppy🐶 should involve:

•meeting up with other safe people and dogs to interact in a safe and controlled manner (i.e. not allowing larger dogs to run your puppy over or allowing your puppy to annoy other dogs)

•Visiting new places so they can experience new sights, sounds, and smells from the comfort of your arms, a stroller, or on a leash.

•Sitting at outdoor patios (starbucks is my go to!) or other spaces like parks and letting your puppy just exist with their surroundings.

•Taking them for happy visits to the vet and groomers (make sure your groomer requires vaccinations for all clients they allow in the salon).

•Taking a puppy class through a trainer who understands the need for proper socialization.

All of these options are great ways to help shape your puppy into a confident, sound dog🐕 as they grow into adulthood and things I have done with my own personal dogs as a trainer. The goal is to not overwhelm your pup, keep things short and sweet to start, and always keep the safety of your pups mental and physical health in mind.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to shoot us a message or comment here! And for any one interested, I am going to be hosting a puppy day at the park (with pup cups of course) here in the near future for any one who would like to come and learn more about socializing/raising a puppy as well as give their pups a chance to exist around other safe pups and people! Vaccine💉 records will be required.

You never know what mischief or adventures we will embark on in daycamp!

Eddie and Maple had a blast visiting the waterfall at Santa Fe Lake during our hike last week. It's always a favorite for training and hiking adventures!

Check out this little cutie!😍

Milo has joined us for a 4 week board and train so he can get a head start in good behavior! He's an absolute little rock star and soaks up everything I show him super quickly. From leash manners to curbing some mouthing issues his mom has struggled with him on, he is picking it all up fast.

Starting puppies young is so important. It helps curb unwanted behaviors before they get older as well as makes your life so much easier in the long run.

Lukey and Mimic held their down stays while I ran into Starbucks to grab my drink and their pup cups for just over 10 minutes. It made it so easy for us to enjoy our sweet treats while out.

A good down stay is something every family pet should know how to do. It's something that not only makes your life easier when situations call for the need, it also can be huge for their safety.

Are you wanting to teach your pup how to hold a down stay? Would it make life just a little bit easier on you? We would love to help you accomplish you and your pups goals! We have a few options to help get you and your pup where you want to be training wise. Contact us today📲

Ouija worked on settling while hanging out on a busy patio and did so well! She can be a sensitive dog with loud noises and crowds but she handled this outing like an absolute champ!

✨NEW ️DAYCAMP OPENINGS✨️

Have you wanted to find something to help wear your dog out but don't like the idea of traditional daycare? We got you!

Our daycamp programs are designed to only allow a small number of dogs per day. This means each dog is getting individual training and enrichment while also having the opportunity to hike and play with other safe dogs!

Have a reactive dog? No problem! We can structure the day so that your dog is being given the same oppurtunities as everyone else as well as getting individualized time to work on those reactivity issues a little! (Work will still need done through private sessions and/or at home as well if working completely through the reactivity is your goal. Daycamp is a good starter and can lead to having some advice to give at minimum)

We offer day camp 3 days a week! Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. Dogs are picked up (yes, I come to you for convenience!) in the morning and dropped off between 4 and 5 in the afternoon.

If you would like to see about getting your pup started in daycamp, contact us today!

Sekhmet is rocking her board and train! I absolutely love working with this crazy poodle girl. She has been so much fun!

Sekky is here for an obedience touch up and working on public access skills to become her mama's service dog! I think she's going to make one heck of a service dog one day!❤️🐕‍🦺
