Consistency is key!❤️
Most people dont typically have something down perfectly the first time they are shown it. Dogs are no different.
The big differce for them is the language barrier. We cant simply tell a dog to "stay" and they understand what that means. Dogs dont speak English. So its our job to teach them the behavior we are wanting and then teach them the word that represents it.
And even then, that skill has to be kept up with. You can't run a 5 minute mile, take a year off, and expect to go back to running a 5 minute mile when you haven't been practicing. Your dogs cant either. Nalas handler was struggling with her down stays when he would walk too far or step out of sight while working. He works long hours so he hasn't been able to get her out as often which caused her skills to decline a little.
So today, we took on the mall to work on reproofing her down stays and handler focus. She absolutely rocked it! I think its safe to say her touch up lesson was a success! Now we just have to make sure she continues to stay up on her skills.
