The quick is black. The nail here is clear. This is acceptable.

The nail regenerates and can be clipped, filed, or broken and it grows back. We cannot count chicks out who hatch with clear nail(s).

As long as the quick is black, it's good.

The nails will harden and blacken as they get older.

This is not the same as a fully white nail or toe.

Nail: The hard outer shell made of keratin that shields the toe and helps chickens scratch the ground.

Quick: The live, inner blood vessel and nerve that grows inside the center of each nail.
