Cersi originally came into our care in April of 2024 from Brawley Animal Control as a stray. After being in the shelter for over a year she was adopted but was returned two months later. The adopter stated that their other dog did not like Cersi. Cersi has proven to be an amazing dog! She does very well with all other dogs, and she is great with kids! Cersi has been a fan favorite at several adoption events, especially amongst children. Her sweet disposition and happy-go-lucky personality makes her an excellent candidate for anyone looking to add a shelter pup in need to their family during Clear The Shelters!

A few dogs have been adopted since our post regarding euthanasia for space, but more and more are coming in everyday from Animal Control. Most are owner surrenders, and some are lost pets that are not being claimed by their owners… If you’re thinking of expanding your furry family there’s no better time than now! 🐾👍🏼

Omar came into our care from Westmorland Animal Control in mid-January as a stray who was never claimed by his owners. Omar has become a staff favorite over the last several months. He does very well with other dogs, and he is very good with children! We have come to learn that Omar knows basic commands (sit, stay, come), he walks very well on a leash, and he loves car rides! It’s clear that Omar was once the beloved pet of someone who put some time and effort into him. Although he was forgotten about for whatever reason, our team is going to do everything we can to give him the second chance he deserves just in time for Clear The Shelters.

Ducky came into our care in March as a stray that had been found wandering the streets in Calexico. One of our fosters had seen her and knew she needed help, so she picked her up and took her home. Little did she know, Ducky needed much more help than she ever imagined…. Ducky was severely emaciated, anemic, and she had TVT (Transmissible Venereal Tumors), a type of cancer in dogs. Ducky was immediately hospitalized with our vet in Mexicali undergoing treatment for the TVT and two months later we were given the news that she was clear! After being released from the vet, Ducky went back to her foster home and her foster mom has had nothing but pawsitive things to say about her! Ducky not only does well with other dogs of all sizes and ages, but she is great with cats and with children as well! Ducky totally scored big time with her foster mom, and she has gone from drab to fab! Ducky truly is a one-of-a-kind dog and she is ready to find her furever home!
