Pet Welfare has been in operation since 1982 and works to rehome cats and dogs in the Florida Panhandle, with a focus on supporting the military community by easing the hardship associated with surrendering the family cat or dog due to circumstances out of their control. Hi everyone! My name is Peanut 🐾

I was born on August 3, 2025, and I’m a Border Collie / Irish Setter mix. I’m fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped!

I’m looking for a new home because my current family works nights and sleeps during the day, so they aren’t able to give me the time and structure I need.

I’m a very energetic boy who would do best with plenty of space to run and play. I was in training and would really benefit from someone who can continue working with me and keep my mind active.

I’ve been around other dogs, but I do best with slow introductions. I’ve also been around cats, though I can get a little too curious sometimes.

Most of all, I love being around my humans and would thrive in a home where I get lots of attention, exercise, and guidance.

A rehoming fee of $125 is requested.

Adopted!

This guy…adopted as a kitten by a well-meaning but ultimately unsuitable person, Shadow was rescued from a hoarder’s house in 2023. He was thin, flea ridden, and frightened.

He slowly emerged from his shell, learned how to be a kitten and began trusting our volunteers. He gained weight and confidence. Still, no offers of adoption materialized.

He waited and waited—always being the first to great visitors to the cat room. Shadow Fontana recently entered foster care and did well with the resident cat. So well that they decided they want to keep him forever!

From such a rough start in life to a forever home. That’s always our favorite thing and why we do what we do.

This sweet little baby is still figuring out the world one tiny paw at a time 🐾 We’re still getting to know her personality, but one thing’s already clear… she is absolutely precious. Soft puppy cuddles, tiny tail wags, and the cutest little face you’ve ever seen 💕
