Christmas has never been an easy day for me.
Some holidays come with ghosts. Old griefs. Empty chairs. The kind of quiet that hums a little too loud. For a long time, this day carried more weight than warmth, and this year follows a long, stubborn line of difficult ones.
And yet… here you all are.
And here they are.
To every Kate Helps Animals client: thank you. Truly. From the deepest, softest place in my chest.
Being trusted with your animals, your little crews of fur, feathers, hooves, and heartbeats, has been the greatest, gentlest gift. While you’re able to be with your families, I get to be with mine in a different way: warm barns, curious noses, sleepy eyes, wagging tails, soft nickers, and the quiet magic of caring for lives that simply want to be safe and loved.
I may not be the “family gathered around the tree” type, but I get something just as sacred. I get to spend a historically hard day wrapped in purpose, presence, and the kind of love animals give without conditions or expectations. In return for helping you be with yours, you’ve filled my loneliest moments with meaning, and that’s no small thing.
Thank you for an incredible year.
Thank you for trusting me.
Thank you for your kindness, your flexibility, your patience, your compassion, and your animals who have healed parts of me they’ll never know existed.
Wishing you a Merry Christmas, full of warmth, rest, and love, however it looks for you.
