It is with an extremely heavy heart that I have to write this post, but I need to let everyone know that we have closed our doors.

This was not a decision that I made lightly; I’ve been struggling with it and fighting myself on it for awhile now. There are many factors that went into this decision, including but not limited to: having such a rough time trying to re-build from scratch after the fire that damaged everything we had at the rescue, being a single mom to three young children who need more of me than I was able to give them while also running the rescue, trouble getting a consistent group of volunteers who were willing to put in the excessive amount of work that it takes to keep a place like this clean and healthy (as a non-profit, we don’t have the funds to pay employees), not to mention all of the difficulties that came along with Covid the last couple years.

That being said, while I am incredibly sad to do this, I’m equally proud of all we have accomplished in the five years we’ve been here. We rescued and adopted out 4,162 cats, we gave people young and old the opportunity to come to a welcoming place to cuddle with kitties, we hosted birthday parties and movie nights, and brought smiles to thousands of faces. We couldn’t have done any of it without your support, and for that we are forever grateful.

Animal rescue is my life-long passion and I very much hope to re-open someday in the future, in some capacity, whether it be a full-blown cat cafe or a place that focuses solely on rescue. Thank you again for all the donations, adoptions, and love along our journey.

We’d love to see photos of any and all kitties who have been adopted from us, please share in the comments 💗

***ADOPTION EVENT***

This Saturday (January 22nd) from 12:00-6:00 pm

There will be a sign-up list outside. Please put your name on the list, and we will call each person/family in one at a time. If you are not present when your name is called, we will move onto the next. Please have masks for each person in your group.

We have many cats available! Below are some photos of (most of) the kitties. They range in age from four months to four years. There’s about seven kittens, 12 teens, and five adults.

We are not able to answer questions about specific cats prior to the event. If you are interested in adopting, please come to the event, and you can meet all the kitties and find your purrfect match! That being said, finding the right home for the cats is our number one priority, and we have the right to make the final decision when it comes to each adoption. Thank you for your understanding and patience!

Cost is $200 for one cat, $350 for two. All cats have been spayed/neutered, feline leukemia tested (all of ours are required to be negative), vaccinated (FVRCP combo, rabies), flea treated, and dewormed.

We look forward to meeting you 😻

In honor of the late and great Betty White’s 100th birthday, we invite you to donate even just a few dollars to help us continue saving cats from high-kill shelters. Betty was a huge animal lover and advocate, and we think this is a wonderful way to further her legacy. Thank you all for your support ❤️

Hello everyone! First of all, we need to apologize for the typo in our last post. Our adoption event was supposed to be on the 3rd, not the 23rd. Oops! But perhaps it worked out, because Kristina is currently sick and out of caution is staying home until all her symptoms have cleared. That being said, we WILL be rescheduling the adoption event very soon, so please follow our page for updates!

Right now, we are only open to the public for scheduled adoption events. We hope, in the near future, to become more available for visits/adoptions. It is incredibly difficult to run a rescue with extremely limited funds, not to mention Covid protocols, but we are doing our best and we are super grateful for everyone who helps out with donations.

Thank you for your continued support!

These gorgeous kitties were all in their final hours, some in minutes. With the help of our amazing dream team in Bakersfield we were able to get these babies out of there!

Our Kitty Krew and our founder Kristina have been working around the clock to get these guys here, get them all settled in, cleaned up, fed quality foods to nourish these beauty’s, loved and assured they are safe and on their way to the best furever homes ever like the thousands of their predecessors!

So if this holiday season you’ve been thinking of adding in a kitty to your family, please consider giving one of these babies the best gift they could hope for!!! 😻

If you’d like to support our kitties and our mission, we are currently in need of clumping litter and quality dry food 🙏

Hi everyone! I am a long-time, mostly behind-the-scenes volunteer for Kitty Korner, and I also run Sweet Ivy Bake Shop. For the holidays I am making cookie decorating kits and a part of the sales will be donated to Kitty Korner! Each kit has 10 shaped sugar cookies, three bags of colored icing, and fun sprinkles. Pick up is just a few minutes south of the rescue, on Dec. 18th and 23rd. Let me know if you’d like to order, and thank you for your support, both for myself and the kitties! ❤️

***Warning graphic images below***

If you have adopted one of our kitties over the years you may see you kitties below, some can be upsetting, but please remember together we all saved their life!

I have always tried to spare the graphic details and images of where and what our kitties go through and where they come from.

I also never really post about the tremendous amount of work, money, emotional and physical pain, sacrifices etc… my partners in Southern California and I all devote to get these kitties up here and saved from the hell they live in over the last 5 years.

You see the last few days and now the days to follow transport issues have been a heart breaking, stressful, exhausting nightmare.

Unfortunately the private transporter we use, has been having to cancel multiple transports last minute. Which has put us all in a massive crisis mode.
When we can’t get these guys up here, then we lose them. They either have no choice but to go back to the shelters where they will have very limited time before being euthanized or they’ll be let loose in the feilds where they are rescued from, and be left to try to survive the elements, starvation, predators and God only knows what other nightmares 😩

Our incredible partners as well as several other beautiful human beings, have literally spent every waking minute of the last several days desperately trying get the kitties and doggies that were due to go on those transports up here to safety.

But have been hit with crushing obstacles and impossible hurdles everyday. First it was the rented vehicle that wonderful individuals volunteered to drive up. The air element failed and it’s crucial for these babies this time of year and on such a long journey they must have heat and air. Two days of trying to fix it with no successes and no part available they had mo choice but to return home, so then a great man offered to fly them up!! Every person is now on day 3 of waking up at dawn with very little sleep and under massive stress and pressure of transferring and transporting all these poor fur babies over and over again trying desperately to get them all to the Pacific Northwest.

The plane is loaded and everyone can’t wait to watch these fur babies and all their hard work take off! But then they get another crushing call, the planes flaps won’t open 😿😿😿

For those of us who devote our whole lives to this purpose, more hours than most could ever imagine, so many sacrifices, so much heart ache but we were put on this earth for it, well there just isn’t proper words to explain how our hearts shatter and the heaviness and the despair we feel. 😿

I have had to do emergency runs, many times in the last 5 years, many I have never posted about.

So now it’s time cause we are running out of options and we can’t just give up now, we can’t let anymore lives end.

So, we will do whatever it takes. California crew is currently working on a private transport on their end and I am making plans in this end.

So, to anyone who may have missed an appointment this weekend or a donation drop off with a kitty visit I apologize.

I have spent the last two days driving all over the greater Seattle area picking up many, many, generous donations for the kitties and the lounge to stock them and my volunteers up with everything they could possibly need while I head down. As well as getting my own animals and children squared away.

I will be heading south beginning of December for sure and possibly again before the end of December if needed, and potentially 1 x a month ongoing, we will see what the future holds, we have overcome so much and still been able to save thousands of lives we aren’t done yet!!!!

I’m sorry for some of the photos you will see below, it’s time to show the reality of what Kitty Korner Rescue and Lounge is all about.

If you are wondering how to help here’s how.

*Donating and Sharing this post, every single dollar helps.

*Food and litter donations (can be dropped at Crafty Bs two doors down) Tuesday through Saturday 10am to 6pm if no one is at the Kitty Korner

*Volunteers to help cover shifts or assisting current volunteers on shifts

* Volunteers willing to join Kristina on the trips down to help with driving, kitty transfers, crate cleanings, feedings etc…

***And the best way to help Kitty Korner is your patience and understanding of what we do here, and how our NUMBER 1 priority always has and always will be the kitties!!

And that we love and appreciate our customers, our friends, our supporters tremendously and want nothing more than to make everyone happy and we hate disappointing anyone and failing on communications or kitty play time etc… we are trying constantly to get back on our feet and running better than ever while dealing with these constant challenges of rescue, animal rescue is no joke!!

So please continue to give us grace, patience and understanding!!

It’s not about us it’s about them and those precious angels thank you all as well 😻😻😻

More info to follow, please be patient with communication responses at this time as well! Thank You 🙏

This is the sweet Namaste. This poor kitty was hit by a car and left to die by the side of road, a good samaritan found her and got her to a small rescue in the area. Namaste is currently in foster with an elderly lady who'd health is declining and the rescue is about to close their doors permanently. Namaste has no place to go, we need your help getting her to you. She as sweet, affectionate kitty, only 4 yrs old and despite her disability she gets around very well and uses the litter box. Can you please help this sweet kitty? https://www.facebook.com/dianaybarra.realtor/videos/3672137789502168
Hi, my name is Little Gray, I'm just 7 months old and everyone says I'm adorable. I really want a home and a family of my own. Can you help me get to Washington, please? I promise to be a good boy and love my family.
This handsome guy is Junior, just 1 yr old, sweet and playful! Looking for a lap to call his own! This California immigrant desperately needs a loving home!
Kitty Korner and Ms. Kristina Robinson. My name is Musk, my foster mom says I'm 14.5 lbs of love and sweetness. I was dumped in a feral colony and have been surviving on my own until my foster mom found me. I am now "fixed" even though I didn't know I was broken, and vaccinated and free of fleas. I really need my own family to love, can you help me get to you in Washington? I'm told there's lots of families wanting to love a kitty like me!
Are you guys (and the cats!!) alright? I just woke up to see there was a fire in your building. I hope the poor kitties are okay.
This has been a difficult year for everyone, for some even more so. This is a sad story so grab your kleenex. These 9 kitties are just days away from being put on the streeets. The family that took in their mom when she was pregnant now find themselves going through a very difficult time. Dad has terminal liver cancer and they are about to lose their home. The shelters in our county are closed and not taking in any cats, so these kitties who have been loved and taken care of since they were born will end up out in the cold with no place to go and having to fend for themselves. These cats are all young, healthy and have been raised with children. I'm asking Kristina Marie Robinson of Kitty Korner for help in getting these kitties to Washington so they can be safe and find new loving homes. We need financial help in getting them to Washington. Please help us help these cats get transported to the Kitty Korner. Thank you
Kitten got out of apartment on 145th and 15th or 12th St please help find him his name is Mister and loves the sound of treats in a bag shaking
SOS from California! These babies will set your heart on fire. They are sweet and cudly and in desperate need of a loving home. Once again asking for help from Kitty Korner and Kristina Marie Robinson. Bad situation here in Bakersfield, CA, 2 moms with 7 kittens needing rescue really badly, their human has lost her job and these kitties are all in danger of ending up on the streets since our shelter are not taking any kitties in at this point. Moms are young, approx. 1.5 years old, the 7 kittens range in age from 6 weeks to 2 months. If you can find room for them I will get them transported to you. Thank you as always for your willingness to help these poor animals.
"911" Once again asking Kitty Korner for help with these urgent California shelter kittens. All needing out immediately, do you have room for them to come to you on the next transport. They are adorable, healthy and bring lots of kitty hugs, snuggles and love with them!
Hi Kristina Marie Robinson and Kitty Korner. These are the URGENT shelter kittens for this week. Hoping you have room to save some more!
Yesterday was 2 years since we brought Ruby home! She’s such a joy! Her and my one year old have many (indoor) adventures!
Here are a couple more also in peril of being euthanized
