What is a Threshold in Dog Training? 🧠🐾
A threshold is the point where your dog starts reacting to something—like another dog, a sound, or a stranger. Think of it as their sensitivity dial. 🔁
👉 Low threshold? Small triggers = big reactions.
👉 High threshold? Takes more to provoke a response.
🎯 Our goal? Work below threshold—where your dog can learn, stay calm, and build new behaviors.
Types of Thresholds:
🔸 Stress: When your dog goes from calm to anxious (panting, pacing).
🔸 Reactivity: When noticing turns to barking, lunging, etc.
🔸 Tolerance: How much your dog can handle before shutting down.
🔸 Training: Where learning can happen—too high, and learning shuts off.
With thoughtful training, thresholds can shift. That’s how we create real, lasting change.
✨ Thresholds are the gateway to change.
