fMRI scans show a dog’s brain lights up most when smelling its owner, even without them present.

Other dogs or strangers trigger weaker signals, proving your scent brings them more joy than food or play.

Karen deCordova and her amazing Friday (Malagold Solitaire 8 Days A Week MH ** CDX RN WCX CCA) had a fantastic 2025 National! Our club is so very proud of this multi-talented team. Oh, and Karen also judged the WC so it was a busy “Friday’s Fortnight of Fun.” Congratulations on all the following National placements:

Field Trial Qual - Reserve JAM
Master B Hunt Test - Q
Rally Intermediate - 3rd place (out of 43 entries!)
Gun Dog Sweepstakes ** Bitch - 1st place
Field Trial Bitch - 1st place

Big congratulations to Marcy Borelli and Timber who earned their third Q in Rally Intermediate class (and a new title!) at the GRCA National Specialty at Purina Farms. Woo-Hoo!!

COGRC therapy dog class went on a field trip to Lowes. They had fun meeting shoppers, and mingling in the giant Christmas decorations. Handlers and dogs all behaved very nicely!

Congratulations to COGRC member Ashley and her teammate Kota!!!

This dog and handler team participated in their very first hunt test. Ashley, with Kota at 15 months old now has 2 Junior Hunter passes, halfway to the title.

Ashley’s time, dedication and hard work along with a very talented, fun and energetic teammate got the job done in fine fashion!
