🎃 She was not asked to be the trick-or-treat bucket. She volunteered.

One cat, one orange pumpkin bucket, a witch hat slipped sideways over one ear, and a look straight at the camera that says nobody is moving her. Somewhere behind her, a young witch is laughing too hard to ask her to get out. 🐈‍⬛

Some pets dress up for Halloween. This one just sat down in the costume and made it her own.

👻 The ghost cannot see out of either eyehole, and the Cavapoo has taken command.

One tug on the hem, one careful step at a time, and the whole trick-or-treat team is moving toward the door. The sheet is crooked, the bucket is ready, and the dog knows the way. Happy Halloween from the best es**rt in the neighborhood. 🎃

🐾 He has been lying in this exact position for two hours, and he has no plans to move.

One enormous Irish Wolfhound, one tiny kitten asleep on his shoulder, and a very careful stare at the camera that says do not wake anyone. The kitten does not know it is on a giant. The giant knows exactly what he is carrying. 💛

Some friendships are built on one very still dog.

🐿️ There is a squirrel on the other side of the glass, and the Cairn has stopped being a dog and become a statue.

Nose on the window, whole body quivering, and eyes wider than they have ever been. The squirrel is eating an acorn like a customer at a diner. One of them is very stressed, and the other has never been more relaxed. 🍂

The squirrel knows the glass is there. The dog does not accept it.

The Terrier Who Fell for the TV Doorbell Six Times

🔔 The doorbell rang, the terrier flew, and nobody was at the door.

Straight off the couch, barking all the way, only to find an empty porch. He trotted back, sat down, and the TV did it again. By the sixth round he had memorized the show, but not the lesson. 📺

What sound on TV sends your dog running every time?

🌬️ The fan was turned on, and the Bloodhound has not blinked since.

Ears back, jowls rippling, eyes closed in perfect bliss, and a tongue that seems to have lost all coordination. It is eighty-nine degrees outside and he has found the only cool spot in the house. He is not leaving. 😎

👑 The garden ruins have a queen, and the Corgi has already bowed.

Chin lifted, tail draped over the edge, eyes half closed, and a whole kingdom of crumbling stone and wildflowers at her paws. The Corgi presented a tennis ball as an offering, and she accepted it without moving. 🐈

Some animals are born pets. Others are born monarchs.

The Shih Tzu Who Delivered Everything One Piece at a Time

🩴 He was waiting at the door with a slipper, and the look on his face said gift.

Left slipper, set at her feet, tail wagging, and a look of deep pride. It was only after she looked up the hallway that she found the rest: two pairs of shoes, three socks, and a hairbrush lined up by the couch. Delivery number one of many. 🐕

What is the strangest thing your dog has ever lined up neatly like a collection?

🧻 The wastebasket was upright at 7:30. At 7:31, the Westie was sitting in the middle of it.

A snowdrift of tissues, a veil on his head, a cardboard tube in his mouth, and a long shadow stretching across the bathroom floor. He froze with wide eyes and hoped the veil would give him cover. It did not. 🐶

The Westie is a very white dog in a very white room, and the evidence is still everywhere.
