Jenkins Forever Farm

Jenkins Forever Farm Jenkins Forever Farm is an animal sanctuary in Indiana that provides rescue, care, love and a forever home to farmed and exotic animals.

We also promote a compassionate/vegan lifestyle. In addition to providing care for the over 100 lives that call JFF home, we also assist other organizations in many ways.

- Providing temporary foster care for animals seized by the authorities.
- Providing placement assistance for animals who need a safe, forever home.
- Partner to remove animals from hoarding situations, have them vetted and plac

ed in safe, forever homes. We also focus a lot of our time on public education about adopting, companion care, and compassionate living. As a rescue/sanctuary, we don't support breeding of any kind so we stress the importance of adopting versus shopping to our followers. We also help connect people with other organizations to help them find the perfect new family member! At JFF, we're home to 13 different species who all require different diets and habitats. We share this information so those who already share their home with that species or plan to in the future might learn something new to keep everyone healthy and happy. Lastly, we're always promoting a compassionate lifestyle which includes everything from diet to clothing to cleaning supplies. If you're interested in more information or where to start, send us a message and we'd be happy to help!

Our sweet old guy Gizmo had to make a trip to Purdue University’s large animal hospital last week. 😩

I noticed when he was walking that his right rear leg was bowing out. Our farm vet reviewed the video I sent her, consulted with a surgeon at Purdue, then ultimately recommended he go in for evaluation and potential imaging.

After the initial exam, the surgeon knew exactly what the issue was. His patella (knee cap) is basically no longer connected and the area was inflamed. There are a few surgical options for repair but due to his age (15) and a pretty low success rate, the surgeon suggested trying some other options first.

So, Gizmo spent a few days at Purdue where he was sedated and given PRP (Platelet-rich plasma) injections in both knees (his left is also deteriorating). The PRP option has the least amount of adverse effects as it’s his own blood being used so the hope is that their body will accept it. Luckily, Gizmo did fantastic and was able to come home after three days.

As soon as he got into the pasture, all his friends greeted him and he got right to doing alpaca things. He’s moving so much better so I’m hopeful we’re on the right track!

The not so fun part is always paying the bill. 🫩😅 Luckily, Purdue is a teaching hospital so there are some savings that come along with that.

Gizmo’s final bill was $624 and we’ve already had one gracious supporter donate $100 towards his care. If you’re able to help cover the remaining $524, Gizmo would greatly appreciate it. Every single dollar helps! 🙏💕

I’ve been gone since Wednesday on a work trip to D.C. (back late last night) and have been so worried about all the flooding in Indiana. It’s absolutely heartbreaking. 💔

Thankfully, everyone at the sanctuary is safe. 💕

Everything is super muddy and you can tell by the pic that the barn is the preferred hangout at the moment. 😅

Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the floods. There’s more rain in the forecast this week. 😩 We’re hopeful it’ll move out and give all those folks a break. 🤞

On July 14, 2018, we took in this sweet little 30 lb baby & named her Poppy. She had been running loose in northern Indiana and was caught & taken to the local humane society. It was a super small town so they didn’t have a place for her other than a dog kennel. She was very scared, not eating/drinking & had a fever. I picked her up as soon as I learned about her & headed straight to the vet. By the time we got there, she had drank water and her temp was normal so the vet determined it was all stress related. I was relieved and the rest, as they say, is history.

Today, she’s easily 1,000 lbs and is still the sweetest girl ever. 🐷🐽💓

Thank You to everyone who braved the potential weather to hang out with us today! 💓

Somehow, we managed to get through the entire event with only a few sprinkles, even though it appeared to be pouring everywhere else. 😅

I was enjoying all the new visitors & the yummy food, so I only took a few pics, but I’m glad I at least captured Buddy on duty as the official Greeter. 🐱👋

Thank you to The Tasty Plate for the yummy food & Marci Tipton for the delicious desserts!

Also, thank you to David Jenkins Debby Eads Crys Wihebrink & everyone else I can’t tag, who volunteered & made today a success. 🥰
