Found this neat piece of taxidermy history and had to share it! To some people it looks like a trashed deer mount, but to people who can appreciate the old ways of mounting deer compared to modern methods this thing is awesome! The ears are made with a cardboard ear liner and the form is made out of 2x4s and then stuffed FULL of sawdust. The head is made of the original skull held together with string and with some sort of paper mache and is also full of sawdust! The people who were selling it had no idea how old the mount is but only knew that is was in the attic of some mansion for a long long time! Although it’s in pretty rough condition, it feels good to hang somebodies old trophy back up on the wall again!
