Shelties and other double-coated breeds actually shed more heavily during seasonal transitions, and October is prime time for it. 🐕 Dogs that are active on a ranch, whether they're herding, guarding, or just covering a lot of ground daily, burn significantly more calories than the average house pet and have higher protein and fat requirements to support that output.

September tip for backyard flock keepers. 🐔

As days get shorter, your hens are picking up on it. Laying hens need around 14 to 16 hours of light to maintain consistent egg production. When natural daylight drops below that threshold, many hens will start to slow down or take a break entirely.

This is completely natural. But if you want to maintain production through fall and winter, a simple light on a timer in the coop can make a big difference. 💡
