What can I say?!?!
When I showed this video to one of the vet tech’s at the Shenandoah County Animal Shelter while I volunteered today as a “Social Butterfly”(the title for a volunteer who sits 1-on-1 with cats, providing social time), she commented by way of asking me, “What is WRONG with you?!?!”

Cam footage/pic from yesterday’s volunteer transport. I had (9) cats & (1) dog in my truck. The back seats were full of crates, and I had one on my front passenger seat, belted in. I was down in Harrisonburg, and the timing worked out well, to be able to help-out by bringing them all back with me from spaying/neutering at Anicira, then north of Woodstock for rendezvous & pick-up.

P.S.-My expression was uncharacteristically a bit on the serious side, as I concentrated on traffic on I-81 (heavy on the truck side). To say I felt the weight of responsibility of what I was doing, is no understatement. Some were just “babies”, but ALL were VERY precious cargo!!!

Felix has been outside for over 1-1/2 hours since I returned from transporting a cat for HSSC ( Humane Society of Shenandoah County). Instead of choosing to wander the neighborhood, he’d rather stay close to our little home-sweet-home.
Five months ago if you told me he’d grow this attached to me, I’d have scoffed at the notion. Yesterday evening, as I contemplated how fortunately blessed I am to have him, Missy, & Orville in my life, AND how I was equally as blessed to make a difference in their lives, it brought tears to my eyes. I love all (3) of my

Orville is approving of my choice…
…regarding where to place his little bed 🛏️!
After I brought him home yesterday, he quickly gravitated to the spot under a bedside table in my guest room - now his quarantine room, so I figured that was the best spot for it.
I hadn’t had cats for (44) years before Missy & Felix AKA Lady and the Tramp came along, but learned a couple of VERY important things pretty quickly. The 1st being “Meet them where they’re at.” The 2nd was how true the age-old adage, “Slow and steady wins the race!”, really is. To do else wise is to risk losing preciously-gained, hard-earned ground, with regard to gaining a cat’s trusting acceptance. I will certainly apply those approaches with Orville, and with regard to introducing him to them. It’s important that we ALL get off to a G😻😍D start!!!
And so the adventure continues!!!😁

For those working or volunteering in capacities where cleanliness protocols are applied (e.g. shelters, fosters, humane societies), this may be very useful as an alternative to commercially available protective shoe covers. Money otherwise spent on covers, could be applied to food, supplies for care & feeding, vetting, and TNR & spay/neuter programs, among other costs.

I had the ABSOLUTELY wonderful privilege of being present in the kennel room at the Shenandoah County Animal Shelter as I volunteered today, and talking with a lady who made the decision to adopt Wilbur. He put on a G😽😻D show today, that clearly said “Please take me home with you!” Hopefully, she’ll decide to adopt his brother named Orville, and take him home tomorrow, also…🙏🤞 I mean, how could you split up Wilbur & Orville?!?! The clear decision in the best interest of them both, was as plane as the nose on my face!!! 🤭
