We take in animals in need and do our best to rehabilitate them so they can live happy healthy lives! We focus on horses, dogs, and cats, but we may also have goats, chickens, donkeys, mules, and pigs! We always need help in the form of volunteers, fosters, sponsors, and donations! At the end of March we welcomed Slim. He’s had a rough life, yet is the sweetest boy. But he was limping on his front right leg and basically wouldn’t use it.

X-rays showed his elbow was the issue. And there was no way to fix it. So yesterday he had the bum leg removed.

The Xrays also showed he had been shot at some point. So we aren’t sure if another bullet hit his elbow or if he somehow got infection or fungus into the joint. So the leg has been sent out to confirm if he had some kind of disease going on.

Yesterday’s surgery and histopath came to $500. While this is hugely discounted, it’s still a lot when you consider his adoption fee is only $75. So we are once again asking for donations to help cover some of this. Any amount helps so we can keep helping animals like Slim who have significant medical needs above just basic care.

Slim is also in need of a furever home!! If you are interested in bringing this boy into your home please fill out an application. He is great with other cats and dogs that won’t chase him. He is super laid back and just wants to snuggle.

Sunday ended up being a pretty eventful day.

We went with our friends to look at a Belgian mare they were interested in (since they wanted a rideable horse and none of ours are) and the woman who had the mare pulls horses from a kill pen in MN. While I was talking to her she told me about a 25 yr old Belgian gelding she got who had bad teeth and needed mash since he can’t eat hay. They don’t have grass pastures in the summer, only dry lots. She wanted to find him a home where he could graze in the summer and who could feed him more than twice a day.

Soooooo we brought him home.

His name is Barney. He is a typical ex-Amish horse who is leery of people. But he picks up his feet (which is unusual for a draft with his history).

He will require a LOT of hay pellets and grain to help put weight back on.

Friday night this handsome little guy showed up. His name is Mr. Bean. He said to be around eight years old, but we aren’t entirely sure if that’s true or not.

Somebody went to take a look at him for their granddaughter, and while he was a little bit too much of a spitfire to put a young kid on, she did not want to leave him there. He was living in a corral that had solid metal panels all the way around so he could not see out at all. He was all by himself. And then in the middle of the corral was all kinds of Wood garbage with nails in it. And he only had path around the outside of it to walk. So they contacted us to see if we would take him.

We are very excited to get to know him. He seems very sweet so far.

Today we picked up the last 8 cats from the hoarding situation! And we went straight to our vet to get them neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea treatment and even removed a polyp that was in the ear of one of the cats.

We still need more barn homes or even indoor homes that will be patient and give them time to get to know you.

Or if you can spare $5 to help towards their vetting we would greatly appreciated it!

On Tuesday our little friend got some much needed relief and got his eye removed. He’s just a little guy, probably less than 6 months old. He’s probably lived most of his life like this.

Hopefully now that we removed the source of constant pain he will start coming around. He is VERY shy.

Update on the hoarding situation we have been working on.

This past Wednesday, in yet another winter storm, we went back to the house in order to take 10 more cats to Wisconsin Humane Society in Green Bay. We brought one cat home with us. And then yesterday, one of our volunteers, went back and picked up one more cat that was trapped after we left on Wednesday.

The pictures are of the two cats that are now with us. As you can see one of them has an injured eye that will need to be taken care of.

The other guy is Nugget and he’s quite the character as you can see 🥰😆 he is available for adoption as we were able to get him neutered and vaccinated on Saturday.

As of now there are seven, possibly eight cats that still need to be removed. They are, however, likely going to need barn homes as they are very skittish. So if you are interested in a cat or two to add to your farm or garage please let us know. They will be fixed and vaccinated Before coming to you.

On Saturday, we welcomed Miss Rose to the rescue.

She was an owner surrender due to her young owner moving and not being able to afford to board her. She will be 27 in May.

She’s got something wrong with her back legs and the way that she walks (looks a bit like stringhalt) and she looks as though she may have Cushing’s. So we will get the vet out to take a look at her.

But what we do know is that she is a very sweet girl.
