Busy (and expensive) day yesterday.

Started out by taking Spud, Ginger and Mr. Bean to the vet. Spud and Mr. Bean got some much needed dental work done. Poor Spud had FIVE teeth removed. Both had some pretty significant points on their teeth.

Ginger had X-rays of her front feet to see how bad she has foundered in the past. She has some pretty significant issues but the vet said the worst is behind her so euthanasia was not recommended. She will continue to be managed with proper trimming, anti-inflammatory meds and some boots.

We also sent bloodwork out for Ginger to see if she is insulin resistant and for Spud to see if he’ on the right dosage of medication for his Cushings.

Then be our farrier was here to finish the day.

We also welcomed Beretta the other week. This girl has a pretty crazy story.

She is a Standarbred/paint cross. Bred by a backyard breeder, and unhandled the first 9 years of her life.

Then one day she was gored by a buffalo 😳

But that may have been the best thing that could have happen to her because it was then that a very caring person took her in. She was given the vet attention she needed for her wounds. And, learned that people meant good things. It’s only been just over 3 years since her injury and she is now a lovely horse.

She was born with a wonky front leg that was not addressed so now the lower part curves out. It doesn’t bother her though.

She’s only about 12 years old.

Once again I’m behind on posting, but the other week we welcomed Natti (horse) and her friend Daisy (mini donkey).

A lovely woman I met years ago through doing TNR asked me if I would take them should something happen to her. Unfortunately, she has been very sick and wasn’t able to care for them anymore.

Daisy is very sweet and lives attention. Natti is definitely the stereotypical red mare 🤣

These 2 scaredy cats are looking for a barn/shop home. They are about a year old.

They would need to be contained for 2 to 3 weeks before letting them out so that they learn where their home is. And they will still need food and water provided throughout the year.

Fleet Farm in Marshfield will be taking donations for the rescue during the month of August. And to kick it off we will be there Saturday August 2nd with some of our animals.

We are so grateful they picked our little rescue!

Sid is back! He was breaking through fences and the barn owner was understandably upset. So far he’s been staying in the fences here 🤞🤞🤞

On Monday we said goodbye to two special boys, Ranger and Snowman.

This guy has been running loose for a week. He seems well taken care of other than the fact that he still is intact and is running at large

Has been running around a very busy street. Employees of a business nearby were able to capture him today.

Anybody know this guy? 

This dog was found in Dorchester, WI near the River Country Coop. Male. Wearing a brown collar. Please contact the shelter at 715-965-6711 to claim. The dog is not at the shelter.
