Parasites are no joke for goats — but there’s a way to stay ahead!

Intestinal parasites are the #1 cause of anemia in goats, and they can cause serious issues like diarrhea and weight loss in addition to anemia if left unchecked.

Here’s how you can stay on top of it:
🔎 Use the FAMACHA scoring system every 3–4 weeks to monitor for signs of anemia
💩 Run routine f***l samples to track parasite levels
🌾 Rotate pastures regularly and avoid overgrazing to help break the parasite cycle

Keeping your goats healthy takes consistency — and we’re here to help every step of the way.

Spring grass might be lush—but it can spell trouble for your horse’s hooves. 🌱🐴

Founder (laminitis) is a serious and painful condition, and one of the most common causes is overconsumption of rich grass or feed.

If you notice signs like sudden lameness, heat in the hooves, or a reluctance to move—don’t wait. At Castaway, we offer a quick and easy blood test to catch underlying issues early and help get your horse on the road to recovery.

🩺 What is a Coggins Test? 🐴

A Coggins test screens for Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA), a highly contagious and potentially fatal virus in horses. This test is done yearly to ensure your horse is healthy and safe—most shows, barns, and transporters require it.

🦟 How is it spread?
EIA is transmitted by flies and mosquitos, making regular testing essential for prevention.

📅 Is your horse up to date?
Schedule your Coggins test with us today and keep your horse protected!

Spring sniffles aren't just for people—your horse could be feeling it too. 🌼🐴

This time of year, we often see a rise in respiratory issues in horses. If your horse has a persistent cough, nasal discharge, or just isn’t performing like usual, it might be time to take a closer look.

At Castaway Animal Clinic, we offer diagnostics like scoping and ultrasound to get to the root of the issue. With options like inhalers and oral medications, we tailor treatment plans to help your horse breathe easier and feel better—fast.

Don’t let breathing trouble slow them down this season. We’re here to help!
