OUR STORY

Allied Veterinary Service, a private locally-owned clinic, was created in response to a community-wide need for Emergency and Critical Care services in the Eau Claire, Brooklyn Park, and Twin Cities area. We provide care 24/7 in Minneapolis, overnight and 24/7 weekend and holiday care in Eau Claire and Anoka, and urgent care in Brooklyn Park.

Today is Heat Awareness Day, and with summer just around the corner, it's a great time to brush up on how to keep your pets safe in the heat! 🌡️🐾

🐾 Never leave your pet in a parked car, even for a few minutes.
🐾 Check pavement temperatures before walks to protect sensitive paw pads.
🐾 Make sure fresh water and shade are always available outdoors.

Most importantly, know the warning signs of heatstroke:
🚨 Excessive panting
🚨 Heavy drooling
🚨 Lethargy or weakness
🚨 Vomiting
🚨 Disorientation or confusion

If your pet is showing signs of heatstroke, move them to a cool area and contact your nearest Allied Veterinary Emergency Hospital immediately. Heatstroke can quickly become life-threatening, and prompt veterinary care is critical.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and we want to take a moment to talk about something we see every day: the incredible impact pets have on our wellbeing. 💚

Studies show that spending time with animals can lower cortisol levels, reduce feelings of loneliness, boost mood, and even lower blood pressure. But if you're a pet owner, you probably didn't need a study to tell you that. You already know what it feels like to come home to a wagging tail or a purring cat after a hard day.

Our pets give so much. We're grateful to help keep them healthy so they can keep showing up for you. 🐾

Memorial Day weekend is almost here! Before you fire up the grill and head to the water, here are a few pet safety reminders:

🌊 Not all pets are strong swimmers. Always supervise near water and consider a pet life jacket.
☀️ Pets can get sunburned and overheat. Provide shade and fresh water at all times.
🦟 Mosquitos and fleas are everywhere. Make sure your pet's preventatives are up to date!
🔥 Keep pets away from the grill. Hot coals and fatty foods can both be dangerous.

As a reminder, we will be here and ready to help all weekend long, including Monday!

Did you know pets can have allergies too? 🐾 May is Allergy Awareness Month! If your dog or cat is constantly scratching, licking their paws, or dealing with recurring ear infections, allergies could be to blame. If this sounds familiar, we encourage you to reach out to your primary veterinarian who can help identify triggers and put together a treatment plan.

However, some allergic reactions are emergencies and require immediate care. If your pet is ever exposed to an allergen and begins showing signs of anaphylaxis such as facial swelling, hives, vomiting, difficulty breathing, weakness, or collapse, do not wait. That is an emergency and we are here for exactly that! 🚨💙🐾
