Meet Walter 💜

Walter is seeing us today for an echocardiogram (fancy ultrasound of his heart that gets sent to a specialist so they didn’t have to make the long trek to a Cardiologist at this point)
He is under mild sedation to help him stay still for this, and he just ended up with a goofy face so we snapped a pic with his mom’s permission and wanted to share it with you guys!!

Our phones are back up and going again, as well as the internet!!
Our in house labs are also replaced and back up and running 🎉
We appreciate everyone’s patience with us!!
It’s definitely already been a week so far for the entire area!

Hey all! Another post incoming (we’re on a roll!) : this is in regards to updating client registration forms, and new Florida law that we want to make you aware of!

1)Due to recent law change in the State of Florida HB 89: Veterinary Prescription Disclosure: Clients have the right to receive prescriptions from the clinic, a written script for a Pharmacy of your choice, or order from an online pharmacy.

2) We also want to inform everyone that we use an AI generated note taking form known as Scribble Vet. This means if a member of the staff is in the room, they are likely recording to take the best notes possible for your records.

3)We are requiring everyone to fill out new paperwork updating your information and signing acknowledgment of this law change. We thank everyone for their understanding.

How did everyone do through the night so far??

Our phones are down, and our in house lab machines are down for the count.
We are hoping our phones will be back by this afternoon; as far as our in house lab machines, we are waiting for replacements to come in which can take up to 4 days (typically 2 days so we’re crossing paws!)

Please keep an eye out for any 🐢 being where they shouldn’t!

🐢 Friends, with the weather becoming a little unpredictable and the Gulf a bit angry, we may see some disoriented hatchlings or wash-back hatchlings over the next few days.

If you happen to find baby sea turtles under your house, in your pool, at the Little Pig, (yes this happened several years ago in a doozy of a storm) or anywhere they shouldn’t be, please call or text us immediately at (404) 242-8538.

The sooner we know, the better chance we have of getting them evaluated and when they are ready getting them safely back to the Gulf. 💚

Thank you so much for keeping an eye out and helping us protect these tiny travelers! Please also remember to close your blinds and turn off exterior lights. They are going to have a difficult time if it’s lightning let’s not add to their confusion with house lights.

All sea turtle work is conducted by trained volunteers under FWC Marine Turtle Permit MTP-143. 🐢

Hey everyone 💜
If you’ve been in the clinic even once in the last couple years, you know this face. Myah has been with us for what feels like 84 years! She started out as a wonderful receptionist and then she made the move to be a technician! She has been an amazing and integral part to this crew, but alas, all good things must come to an end. She is chasing her career goal with full force, and today is the last day she will be here at Apalachicola Bay Animal Clinic.

We are extremely proud, and yes a little selfishly heartbroken, for her to keep moving forward with her number one passion!

Please join us in wishing her fond farewell, and best of luck in her next steps!

Hey all!!
We have a special invitation for you!
As you know, Dr. Northrop and her husband, Michael recently brought into this world a beautiful daughter! This is the wonderful Lilith Gray and she is getting baptized this Sunday, July 19th at the Trinity Episcopal Church at 10:30 🎉

We would love to extend an invitation to the community, who has always been there, and that we have gotten to know, love, and cherish to her baptism!

A fox tested positive for rabies in the Carrabelle area! Please read below.

The rabies virus is present in some wildlife in Florida and can spread to unvaccinated pets, which then pose a high risk to the pet owner and their family.
